Kimble Phillips, Sr.
LAFAYETTE - Funeral services will be held Friday, June 14, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Progressive Baptist Church for Kimble Phillips, Sr., 66, who died Sunday, June 9, 2013 at home in Lafayette, LA.
Services will be conducted by Pastor Lloyd Joiner, Jr.
Interment will be in Progressive Baptist Church Cemetery.
Kimble was born and reared in Lafayette, Louisiana. He graduated from Paul Breaux High School in 1965 and attended the University of Southwestern Louisiana for a number of years. Kimble proudly served his country as a soldier in the United States Army fighting in the Vietnam War
. Upon his discharge, he received the Vietnam Service Medal of Honor for his courageous service. After returning from his military tenure, he became gainfully employed with Southern Pacific Railroad which required him to relocate to Lake Charles, Louisiana. After retirement, he returned to Lafayette to reside.
Kimble is survived by his loving wife of forty-four years, Earline Sam Phillips; his four children, Kimble Phillips, Jr. (Merna), Derrick Phillips, Sr. (Verna), Allen Phillips, Sr. (Bethany), and Adrian Phillips; one brother, Stanley Phillips (Bettye); four sisters, Loretta P. Francis (Wilbur), Betty P. Guiang (Andrew), Carrie P. Angel (Edward), Lula P. Trahan; nine grandchildren, one great-grandchild, three sisters-in-law, five brothers-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. He will be sadly missed, but happily and fondly remembered by all.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Lillian Phillips, and one brother, James Phillips, Jr.
Visitation will be held Friday, June 14, 2013 at Progressive Baptist Church from 7:00 a.m. until time of service.
