Mary Audrey Mathieu
LAFAYETTE - Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 31, 2014 at a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Joseph Catholic Church in Broussard for Mary Audrey Mathieu, age 85, the former Mary Audrey Mouton, who passed away Tuesday, May 27, 2014 at Lafayette General Medical Center in Lafayette.
Interment will be in Fountain Memorial Gardens in Lafayette. The Rev. Arockiam, SVD, pastor of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Broussard, will officiate at the services.
Mrs. Mathieu was a lifelong resident of Lafayette. She loved to cook for family gatherings and her hobbies included canning different foods and collecting dolls. Mrs. Mathieu was always happy and would do anything for anyone. She was the mom of the neighborhood and her house was always open for everyone. Mrs. Mathieu was a true angel to all and was a tough woman. She was a parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Broussard.
Survivors include her four sons, Donald Mathieu, Ricky Mathieu, Jimmy Mathieu and his wife, Marie, and Michael Mathieu all of Lafayette; three daughters, Eva Delle DeRouen and her husband, Jimmy, of Port Arthur, TX, Jeanette Politte and her husband, Steve, of New Iberia and Jacqueline Onezime and her husband, Ronnie, of Lafayette; six grandchildren; four great, great grandchildren; one brother, John Mouton and his wife, Alzina, of Lafayette; and five sisters, Maudrie Simon of Windsor, CT, Alma Senegal, Lillian Joseph and her husband, Clifton, Benita Green, all of Lafayette, and Zenita Mouton of Youngsville.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alexson Mathieu; her parents, Homer Mouton and the former Anita Monette; two brothers, Austin Mouton and Dalton Mouton; one sister, Anita Mouton; and three brothers-in-law, George Simon, Olivier Senegal and John Green.
A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. Friday in the funeral home and at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Broussard.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 5:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. Friday at Melancon Funeral Home, Evangeline Memorial Gardens Chapel in Carencro and will continue from 7:00 a.m. until service time on Saturday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Broussard.
