CARENCRO - Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 2, 2014 at an 11:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in Evangeline Memorial Gardens Chapel in Carencro for Mercedes Prejean, age 79, the former Mercedes Faul, who passed away Monday, March 31, 2014 at 10:45 a.m. at Lafayette General Medical Center in Lafayette.

Interment will be in Evangeline Memorial Gardens in Carencro. Readers will be Montez Prejean and Erin Cuccio. Giftbearers will be Brennan Prejean, Tucker Prejean and Peyton Prejean.

Musical selections will be provided by Phyllis Simar, accompanied by Ron Moreau on the organ. The songs will be Hail Mary, Gentle Woman, Go Rest High on that Mountain, Amazing Grace, How Great Thou Art and Ave Maria.

Mrs. Prejean was a native of Church Point and a resident of Carencro. She worked for forty years along with her husband at Emick Prejean and Son. Mrs. Prejean was a parishioner of St. Peter Roman Catholic Church and a member of the Eucharist Adores, Bonne Mort Society and Ladies Altar Society. She was an avid gardener, a hard worker and loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband of sixty and 1/2 years, Logan Adolph Prejean, Sr. of Carencro; three sons, Joseph Keith Prejean and his wife, Anita, of Carencro, Logan Prejean, Jr. and his wife, Doy, of Vatican and Scott Anthony Prejean and his wife, Montez of Scott; one daughter, Connie Marie Hall and her husband, Keith, of Carencro; eight grandchildren, Toby Prejean and his companion, Candice Courville, Adam Prejean and his wife, Jessica, Eric Prejean and his fiancée, Falon Goudeau, Erin Cuccio and her husband, Samuel, Julie Nugent and her husband, Matt, Cody Prejean, Peyton Prejean and Tucker Prejean; and seven great grandchildren, Brennan Prejean, Garran Prejean, Susie Cuccio, Sally Cuccio, Connie Cuccio, Chloe Prejean and Jack Nugent.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Faul and the former, Eucharist Thibodeaux; three brothers, Merlin Faul, Allen Faul and Martin Faul; and two sisters, Edese Castille and Elvina Prejean.

A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Tuesday and will continue from 8:00 a.m. until service time on Wednesday.

Pallbearers will be Toby Prejean, Adam Prejean, Eric Prejean, Cody Prejean, Matt Nugent and Samuel Cuccio. Honorary pallbearers will be Tucker, Brennan, Garran and Jack.
