GRAND COTEAU - Funeral services will be held Monday, June 25, 2012 at an 11:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Charles Borromeo Roman Catholic Church for Michael J. Anderson, age 60, who passed away Thursday, June 20, 2012 at 10:20 p.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center in Lafayette.
Interment will be in St. Charles Borromeo Cemetery in Grand Coteau. The Rev. James L. Lambert, S.J., pastor of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, will officiate at the services.
Michael Joseph Anderson was born on August 7, 1951 to Elmo and Rudell Sonnier Anderson. Out of love, God called his son Michael home on June 20, 2012.
Michael was a native of Scott. He graduated from Paul Breaux High School and Southern University majoring in Social Studies Education. He was employed by the Lafayette Parish School Board for five years and spent many years working at several oil companies, notably Chevron.
Michael lived life to the fullest and enjoyed get togethers with friends and family and lively music. His two favorite pastimes were hunting and fishing in the great outdoors.
He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife of thirty-five years, Irma Wheeler Anderson; his only child, Jaime Arleen Anderson; two sisters, Lesia F. Leger (Ray) and Sandra L. Barnaba (Peter), all of Lake Charles; two brothers, Mark Anderson of Lake Charles and Raymond Anderson (Jennifer) of Scott; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 8:00 a.m. Monday until service time on Monday.
