LAFAYETTE - Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 12, 2014 at a 2:00 PM Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary Mother of the Church Catholic Church for Nicholas J. Olivier, M.D., 88, who died on Saturday, February 8, 2014 at Lafayette General Medical Center surrounded by his family.

The Very Reverend Monsignor Robie Robichaux, JCL,Pastor of St. Leo the Great Catholic Church, will be the Celebrant of the funeral Mass. Entombment will be in Fountain Memorial Gardens Cemetery Mausoleum in Lafayette.

Survivors include his beloved wife, Julie Sere Olivier of Lafayette; four daughters, Julie Schexnailder and her husband, Joey of New Iberia, Patricia Begnaud and her husband, Calvin of New Iberia, Katherine Walter and her husband, Stephen of Lafayette, and Barbara Wirth of Houston, TX; one son, Bari Olivier and his wife, Amanda of Michigan; fourteen grandchildren; and fourteen great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Julie Marie Olivier; his parents, Pierre D. Olivier, Sr. and Marie Amelie Minor Olivier; three sisters; and two brothers.

Nick Olivier was born on February 8, 1926 in New Orleans, Louisiana and was a resident of Lafayette for over 59 years. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy. Dr. Olivier was a graduate of Louisiana State University School of Medicine and worked as a practicing physician for many years in the Lafayette area. He was a member and past President of the Serra Club and also was a member of the Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church Men's Choir.

Pallbearers will be his grandsons.

A Rosary will be prayed by Rev. Keith LaBove, Pastor of St. Patrick Catholic Church, on Tuesday, February 11, 2014 at 7:00 PM in Martin & Castille's DOWNTOWN Location.

The family requests that visitation be observed on Tuesday from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and will continue on Wednesday from 8:00 AM until time of services.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Dr. Olivier's name to the Carmelite Monastery, 1250 Carmel Drive Lafayette, LA. 70501, or to , 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
