SCOTT - Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 7, 2014 at an 11:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church in Scott for Oran Arceneaux, age 78, who passed away Thursday, January 2, 2014 at 10:36 p.m. at Regional Medical Center of Acadiana in Lafayette.
Interment will be in St. Martin de Porres Catholic Cemetery in Scott. The Rev. Peter Emusa, pastor of St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church in Scott, and Deacon Louis Lloyd will officiate at the services.
Mr. Arceneaux was a native and resident of Scott. He retired from Louisiana Wholesale flowers as a packing supervisor for over twenty-five years of service. Mr. Arceneaux was a parishioner of St. Martin de Porres in Scott where he donated his time and green thumb to much of the landscaping. He was a member of the 33rd Degree Maison Lodge on 12th Street. Mr. Arceneaux was a veteran of the military having served in the U.S. Army
Survivors include his special friend of five years, Matilda Savoy of Crowley; six sons, Joseph Arceneaux and his wife, Debrah, of Ossen, Clarence Arceneaux of Duson, Richard Arceneaux and his wife, Nina, of Onterio, CA, Chris Arceneaux and his wife, Savonia, of Charlotte, NC, Zachary Arceneaux and Brandon Arceneaux, both of Lafayette; one daughter, Stephanie Long of Humble, TX; sixteen grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; one brother, Donald Ray Arceneaux and his wife, Venita, of Marino Valley, CA; one sister, Joycelene Broussard of Scott; his uncle and aunt, Merlin Chiasson and Annie Lee of Scott; and numerous cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Arceneaux and the former Odeile Morrison, both natives of Scott.
A rosary will be prayed at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday in the church.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church in Scott from 7:30 a.m. Tuesday until service time on Tuesday at St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church in Scott.
