Robert Martin Arceneaux, Sr.

LAFAYETTE - Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 2, 2012 at an 11:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church in Lafayette for Robert Martin Arceneaux, Sr., age 78, who passed away Monday, April 30, 2012 at 2:51 AM at Lafayette General Medical Center in Lafayette.

Interment will be in St. Peter Catholic Cemetery in Carencro.

Mr. Arceneaux was a native and lifelong resident of Lafayette. He retired from the Lafayette Parish School Board after 35 years of service. For the next 10 years, he worked for the Steck-Vaughn Book Company. Mr. Arceneaux was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a parishioner of St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church in Lafayette. Robert was an avid golfer and had a passion for cooking.

Survivors include his wife, Esther Brunet Arceneaux of Lafayette; one son, Robert Arceneaux, Jr. and wife, Deidre, of Prairieville; four daughters, Angelle Boyd and husband, Stephen, of Scurry, TX, Deborah A. Zanetti and husband, Joseph, of Lafayette, Stephanie A. Moore and husband, Michael, Jeanne A. Haik and husband, Theodore "Trey" Haik, III, all of New Iberia; two brothers, Charles Arceneaux and wife, Barbara, Francis Arceneaux and wife, Lynette, all of Lafayette; three sisters, Aline Arceneaux, Edna Wheeler and husband, Bernard, Suzanne Ambler and husband, Richard, all of Lafayette; thirteen grandchildren, Gabriel Aaron and Olivia Arceneaux, Natalie and Ross Boyd, Dawn Roy and husband, Blaine, Justin Robin and wife, Brittany, Michael Zanetti, Logan Mack, Matthew and Madelyn Moore, Evan and Elliot Haik; and two great grandchildren, Dylan and Ayden Roy.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Pierre Edgar Arceneaux, Sr. and the former Edna Grevenberg; four brothers, Edgar Arceneaux, Jr., Donald Arceneaux, Richard Arceneaux, Patrick Arceneaux; and three sisters, Lucille Arceneaux, Irma Gauthier and Doris Begneaud.

A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM Tuesday and will continue from 8:00 AM until service time on Wednesday.
