Roland James Kidder
LAFAYETTE - Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 11, 2014 at an 11:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in Evangeline Memorial Gardens Chapel in Carencro for Roland James Kidder, age 72, who passed away Saturday, March 8, 2014 at 2:20 p.m. at his residence in Lafayette.
Interment will be in Evangeline Memorial Gardens in Carencro.
Mr. Kidder was a native of Grand Prairie and lived most of his life in Lafayette. He was employed with Dimmick's Supply and retired with Car Care Auto parts in Lafayette. He was an avid fisherman and loved to play music. Mr. Kidder was a veteran of the U.S. Army
having served two tours during the Vietnam Era.
Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Margita Uhl Kidder of Lafayette; one son, Andrew James Kidder of Lafayette; two daughters, Mona Kidder Olivier and her husband, Danny, of Mire and Corina Kidder Melancon and her husband, Kirk, of Cankton; six grandchildren, Danielle Olivier, Natalie Melancon, Brandon Melancon, Naomi Melancon, Brydon Melancon and Neriah Melancon; three great grandchildren, Daylon Burleigh and Christian Johns and one on the way, Baby Isabella Jane; one brother, John A. Kidder and his wife, Sandra, of Scott; and three sisters, Eula Mae Castille and her husband, Leroy, of Carencro, Maria Kidder of Kentucky and Eumaie Kidder of Lafayette.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin Chap Kidder and the former Marie Stelly; and one brother, Olan Kidder.
A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. Monday in the funeral home.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday and will continue from 9:00 a.m. until service time on Tuesday.
Pallbearers will be Danny Olivier, Kirk Melancon, Andrew Kidder, Brandon Melancon, Brydon Melancon and Jeffrey "Pallo" Johns.
