LAFAYETTE - Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 30, 2014 at a 10:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial in Our Lady of Fatima Roman Catholic Church for Ruth Aline Colomb, 89, who died on Sunday, April 27, 2014 at Rosewood Retirement Community in Lafayette with her family by her side.

Interment will be in the St. Peter Cemetery in Carencro.

The Most Reverend Glen John Provost, Bishop, Diocese of Lake Charles, will be the Celebrant of the Funeral Mass and will conduct the services, assisted by Deacon George Jourdan. Lectors will be Kallie Colomb and Harold Andre Comeaux. Giftbearers will be Layla Barrosse, Mirielle Clifford and Kirstan Clifford.

Left to cherish her memory include her two sons, Colby Louis Colomb and his wife, Lisa Antoine Colomb, and Dr. Keith Allen Colomb and his wife, Charlotte Vizena Colomb; one grandchild, Kallie Ann Colomb; and one great grandchild, Layla Ann Barrosse.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Patrick Louis Colomb; her parents, Otto and Aline Romero Blanchet; her sister, Myrtle Blanchet Denais and her husband, Aymar Denais; and one niece, Jane Ellen Derise.

Ruth Aline Colomb was a native and lifelong resident of Lafayette, Louisiana. She began her professional career with CLECO as a secretary for 14 years, then became a devoted mother. Ruth was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church Community and volunteered both at school and at Church. She was an active member of the Krewe of Attakapas, L'Avenir, Lafayette Women's Bar Auxiliary and was honored with a Lifetime Service Award from Catholic Daughters of America. Ruth was also a member of the Acadiana Bridge Club and loved playing cards; duplicate Bridge was her passion.

Ruth had a vivacious personality and spirit. She prided herself in being a friend to all. Ruth was very outgoing, loved socializing, meeting new people and never knew a stranger. Her wit and humor were always with her. She always had a smile and a warm heart, even during illness, though she endured quite a bit of pain over the past few years. She was a terrific mother, had a very generous heart and her love, support and guidance will always be greatly appreciated by her sons and family. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Pallbearers will be John Carroll, David Antoine, Charles Manuel, Robert "Bobby" Butcher, Jay Rousseau and Kenneth LaFleur, Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be Tom Butcher, Henry Derise, A.J. Antoine, Jay Weill and Scott Thompson.

A Rosary will be prayed by Deacon George Jourdan on Tuesday at 6:00 PM in Martin & Castille's DOWNTOWN Location.

The family requests that visitation be observed on Tuesday from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM and will continue on Wednesday from 8:00 AM until time of services.

The family would like to give special thanks to Nicole Hannie and the Staff at Rosewood Assisted Living, with special appreciation to Dolores Sampey, Mary Cormier and Debra "Precious" Phillips for their loving care in her final days.
