William J. Ziegler Jr.(1956 - 2010)

William (Bill) Ziegler, Jr. passed away peacefully on Monday, October 25, 2010 at Lafayette General Medical Center surrounded by his wife and daughters.

He is survived by his wife, Jennifer Savage Ziegler; his two daughters, Kimberly and Rachel; his sister, Susan Ziegler Fowler; as well as many other relatives and good friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Sophie Thomasson Ziegler; his father, William J. Ziegler; Sr.; his sister, Cynthia Ziegler Moriarty; and his step-mother, Rose Mary Caparo Fowler Ziegler.

Born on January 5, 1956, in New Orleans, Bill graduated from Benjamin Franklin High School in 1973. He received his BA in History from Louisiana State University in 1977 and his JD in 1980 from LSU's Paul M. Hebert School of Law. After establishing a general practice, Bill found his niche in social security disability law in the 1990s. He was an active member of the Louisiana State Bar Association and the National Organization of Social Security Claimants' Representatives. Throughout his 30 years as an attorney, Bill was highly esteemed by colleagues and clients alike.

Bill enjoyed sailing, traveling, and eating good food, especially in the company of his family and friends. He also loved kayaking and photographing wildlife. He was a life-long learner and could often be found reading. He was a loving husband and devoted father. His family will be forever grateful for his guidance throughout the years and the wonderful memories he created. The family would like to thank the oncology nursing staff of Lafayette General Medical Center for their compassionate and attentive care.

Viewing will be 5:30-8:00 Thursday and Friday from 1:00-2:00 at Martin and Castille's DOWNTOWN location, 330 St. Landry Street, Lafayette, LA. 70506. Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 29, 2010 at 2:00 PM in La Chapelle de Martin & Castille.

Father James Brady of St. Landry Catholic Church in Opelousas, will officiate the services.
