LAFAYETTE - Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 20, 2014, at 1:00 P.M. in La Chapelle de Martin & Castille in Lafayette, for Willie Curley Morvant, age 75, who died at 1:03 AM on Saturday, January 18, 2014 at Lafayette General Medical Center in Lafayette.

Entombment will be in Greenlawn Mausoleum.

Reverend David Baudoin, Associate Pastor of Crossroads Church in Lafayette, will conduct the funeral services. Musical selections will be " The Battle Hymn of the Republic", "How Great Thou Art"and "I'll Never Walk Alone".

Survivors include his wife, Darnell Navarre Morvant; five children, Carolyn and Johnny Alcina, Gregory Morvant and his fianceé, Jamie, Vanessa and Cecil Melancon, Sr., Darren Morvant, and Kenny and Jamie Morvant; sixteen grandchildren, Cain and Brent Chiasson, Sheree and Kinzee Morvant, Bobbie Jo Stelly, Billie Jo Demette, Blake Melancon, Darren Jr., Ashley, Corey, Harley, Amber, Tanner, Makenna Morvant, Tristen and Schase Morvant; nine great grandchildren, Gavin and Jackson Zorn, Angelina Stelly, Jacelyn Melancon. Karlee Cary, Brayden and Peyton Melancon, Natalia Morvant and Kashus Morvant; his siblings, Hazel Rouley, and her husband Harold Rouley and Shirley Morvant and his wife, Marian Morvant and one godchild, Savannah Duet and her husband, Kenneth.

He was preceded in death by his parents Wally and Rosita Morvant; one brother, Burley Morvant and his grandparents, Aiden and Angelle Vincent.

Mr. Morvant was born on July 6, 1938 in Youngsville, Louisiana and lived in Lafayette for most of his life. He was a resident of Evangeline Oaks in Carencro for the last few years. He was the son of Wally Morvant and the former Rosita Vincent, both natives of Youngsville. Mr. Morvant was a veteran of military service and proudly served his country as a member of the United States Marine Corps for 15 years. He married Darnell Navarre on February 7, 1959 in Scott, Louisiana. Mr. Morvant was the owner and operator of Morvants Auto Electric and served the community for 30 years. He loved and enjoyed his two favorite hobbies, fishing and playing pool. Mr. Morvant will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Pallbearers will be Greg Morvant, Kenny Morvant, Brent Chiasson, Cecil Melancon, Sr., Blake Melancon and Darren Morvant.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Johnny Alcina, Shirley Morvant, Kennth Duet, Harold Rouley, Carl Morvant, Ricky Morvant, Tony Demette and Cain Chiasson.

The family requests that visitation be observed in Martin & Castille's DOWNTOWN location on Sunday from 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM and on Monday from 9:00 AM until time of service.

A Rosary will be prayed on Sunday at 7:00 PM in Martin & Castille Funeral Home.
