LAFAYETTE - Mrs. Rosalia Todaro passed away on Tuesday, July 12, 2011 in Lafayette, Louisiana, at the age of 89. Now she is safely home with the Lord. Born in Palermo, Italy, and a resident of this country since 1961, has been living in Lafayette, LA, since 1980. She was a loving mother, wife and daughter with strong faith, always helping other people with prayers, sharing what she had, or just listening. An accomplished seamstress, she was also a very skilled cook and several of her recipes were used and still are in use at the family restaurant, Marcello's Italian Restaurant and Cafe. Rosalia had been ill for years, spending the last year of her life in an acute long term facility.

She was preceded in death by an infant son, her husband, Anthony Louis Todaro, her son, Robert Todaro, her son, Mario Todaro, her daughter in law, Debra Lyn Duckworth Todaro, her parents, two older brothers, and by many friends that she had made throughout her life.

She is survived by her son, Eugene Todaro, and his wife Sonia of Lafayette, LA, her son, Carlos Todaro of Arnaudville, LA and her son Marcello Todaro and his wife Suzan of St. Rafael, CA. She has several grandchildren, Eugene and Rebecca Todaro and their two children of Baton Rouge, LA, Dustin Todaro of New Orleans, LA, also, Gabriel Todaro and Elise Rose Todaro of San Rafael, CA. She is also survived by her nephews, Blaise Todaro, Carlo Todaro, Elio Todaro and Russell Todaro and their families in New Orleans, LA and her many relatives in her home country.

Services will be held on Saturday, July 16, 2011 at 10:00 am in the Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers. Visitation will take place on Saturday from 8:30 am until the time of service.

Interment will be held at Westlawn Memorial Park in Gretna, LA on Saturday, July 16, 2011 at 2:00 pm.

In Lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in her memory to the Carmelite Monastery at 1250 Carmel Drive, Lafayette, LA, 70501 or to De La Salle Christian Brothers at 1522 Carmel Drive, Lafayette, LA, 70501, or to the charity of your choice.
