LAFAYETTE - A Mass of Christian Burial will be observed on Monday, August 8, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Fountain Memorial Funeral Home in Lafayette for Mrs. Irene Jackson Dartez, who passed away Thursday, August 4, 2011 at Lafayette General Medical Center in Lafayette.

Interment will follow in Fountain Memorial Cemetery in Lafayette.

Rev. Father Gilbert J. Dutel, Pastor of St. Edmond Roman Catholic Church in Lafayette, will officiate.

Mrs. Dartez was born in Lafayette and was a native of Acadiana. Irene worked for many years as a Sales Associate with J.C. Penney and was a licensed cosmetologist. She attended St. Basil Catholic Church in Judice.

Irene most enjoyed spending time with her family and loved ones. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend and will be deeply missed.

Mrs. Dartez is survived by her beloved husband of 36 years, Carroll Dartez of Lafayette; her three stepsons, Robert Dartez and his wife, Amanda of San Jose, CA and Kyle Dartez and his wife, Desiree and Richard Dartez and his wife, Raelynn, both of Breaux Bridge; her five stepgrandchildren, Ashley, Kadi, Coleton, Camrynn & Hunter Dartez; one sister, Verna Jackson of Lafayette; one brother, James Jackson of Breaux Bridge; her stepbrother Russell Dugas and his wife, Vi of Duson; and a very dear niece and nephew, Alice Lantier Melancon and Kirk John Lantier, along with several other nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents Alfred Jackson and the former Ameline Steiner; her first husband Emick Lantier; one sister, Grace Jackson Lantier Thibodaux; one brother, Maxie Jackson; and two half-brothers, Hector Dugas and Johnny Jackson.

The family requests that visiting hours at Fountain Memorial Funeral Home in Lafayette be observed on Sunday, August 7, 2011 from 10:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. and resume Monday, August 8, 2011 at 8:00 a.m. until time of services.

A rosary will be recited on Sunday evening, August 7, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. in the Fountain Memorial Funeral Home Chapel.

Pallbearers will be Robert Dartez, Kyle Dartez, Kirk Lantier, Charles Melancon, Mike Lantier and Willard Hanks.

James Jackson, Russell Dugas and Ross Melancon will serve as Honorary Pallbearers.
