Elaine Ackal Dore'

NEW IBERIA - Elaine Therese Ackal Dore', 86 of New Iberia, Louisiana, has joined her beloved parents; George and Adele and husband Eddie Dore' in heaven on July 18, 2011. Mrs. Dore' will be fondly remembered for her being full of life, always having a smile in her heart and gleam in her eyes. She never new a stranger. Elaine loved family, travel and being with people. The matriarch of the family, she welcomed everyone into her home to share meals and exchange stories of the family and town she loved so dearly.

She was born in New Iberia, Louisiana, May 23, 1923 and graduated from New Iberia High. She is preceded in death by her husband Advance "Eddie" Dore' also of New Iberia. In 1959 she moved to Algiers, Louisiana with her husband and children. Her focus in life was to bring happiness to others and she was quite successful in achieving this, her number one priority. Elaine returned to New Iberia to be with her five sisters after retiring from Jefferson Parish where she was employed as a supervisor of payroll. Upon returning to New Iberia she worked briefly with Global Industries and developed a huge following of friends, which someone recently characterized as her many "fans". Mrs. Dore' was a parishioner and attended Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church.

Mrs. Dore' is survived by her children William J. Dore', Marie Adele "Susie" Dore', Edward George Dore', James J. Dore, and Julie Marie Hemenway. Grandchildren; Debra Sarradet, Collette Green, Amy Donner, William Dore' Jr., Jerry Huber, Rachel Chaisson, Cindy McCrossen, Mark Boudreaux, Rochelle Dore', Renee Guidry, and Chad Dore' and Sisters Lucile Powell and Marie Haik. She departs our earth leaving 24 grand children and great grand children.

She was preceded in death by brothers; George, William, Joe and Lewis Ackal; sisters, Stella and Lillian and nephew Alden as well as her treasured grandson Matthew Boudreaux.

The family wishes to thank Ms. Debra Hill for her friendship and caring over the many years she shared with our mother. Debra has been a blessing that God sent to keep our mother safe and secure.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Thursday, July 21, 2011 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church with Father Mark Derise officiating.

Visitation will be held Wednesday July 20, 2011 from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM at David Funeral Home and will resume Thursday July 21, 2011 from 8:00 AM until service. A rosary will be prayed in the funeral home on Wednesday at 6:30 PM.

She will be laid to rest alongside her husband at Westlawn Cemetery, 1225 Whitney Ave. Gretna, La. 70506; (504) 393-1741.

Pall bearers: William Dore' Sr., James J. Dore', Ed Dore', William Dore', Jr., Chad Dore'and Mark Boudreaux.

Honorary bearers: Jerry Huber, Michael Guidry, Andrew Crocchiolo and Ronnie Hemenway.

Elaine was a character. She was always smiling and laughing; she loved a good joke. I enjoyed kidding around with her when I worked in the Courthouse - my prayers go out to Julie and all of Elaine's loved ones.She's making everyone laugh in Heaven!!
