Howard Blessing Obituary
LAFAYETTE - Howard J. Blessing, Jr., beloved Father, Grandfather and Great Grandfather made his transition on Saturday, August 6, 2011. He was born on June 7, 1922 in Texas City, Texas, and eventually moved with his family to Lake Charles, Louisiana, where he raised his family and embraced life.
He was a simple man of great faith who gave the best of who he was. His personal journey of discovery touched the lives of many, but mostly his children.
He will be remembered for his courage in facing the many challenges in his life; supporting a large family, surviving World War II as a young man, creating a new life after his wife of 56 years preceded him and in the last year and a half, making a new home at Maison de Lafayette, where he closed his eyes for the last time.
His family will long remember him with much love and affection and know without question that "Pops" is finally home surrounded by the love of his God. "Well done, good and faithful servant, well done".
A memorial service in his honor will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, tell someone you love them, forgive someone, or simply be kind to someone.

My deepest sympathy goes out to the whole Blessing family. I remember in the mid-60's when I had to stay several days at your house. It was wonderful to see the inner workings of your loving family. Dona nobis pacem.

Fr. Blessing,
My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family during this time of grief. I remember your father sitting in the front pew on the left side of St. Patricks Church, devoutly attending Mass. I will keep that memory.
