Joseph Levi "Joe" Savoie

CHURCH POINT - Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Monday, November 19, 2012 at St. John Berchman Catholic Church in Cankton, La. for Joseph Levi "Joe" Savoie, 75. Mr. Savoie, a native of the Bristol, La. area and currently a resident of the Acadia-St. Landry Guest Home in Church Point, La., died at 11:50 A.M. Friday, November 16 at the guest home. Father Cedric Sonnier will conduct the services with interment following in the St. John Berchman Cemetery adjacent to the church.

Survivors include two sons, Tommy Savoie and Larry Savoie of Church Point; two daughters, Christine Savoie of Church Point and Paulette Savoie of Richmond, Tex.; his brothers, Paul Savoie of Lafayette, La., Jessie Savoie of Church Point, J.B. Savoie of Atlanta, Ga. and Preston Savoie currently living in Fla.; a sister, Genevieve Richard and husband Emery of Church Point; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Raoul and Justine (Leger) Savoie and a daughter, Jenny Savoie.

The family requested that visiting hours be observed from 11:00 A.M. until10:00 P.M. on Sunday, November 18 and continue from 8:00 A.M. Monday until the time of the services. A recitation of the Rosary will be held at 7:00 P.M. on Sunday by Deacon David Guillory.

Mr. Savoie, a U.S. Army veteran of the Viet Nam Era, was a long-time member of American Legion Post 225 and VFW Post 9903 and a Fourth Degree Knight of Knights of Columbus Council 2504. He will be honored with a Flag Presentation Ceremony at the time of services.
