LAFAYETTE - Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 9, 2013, at 1:00 PM in La Chapelle de Martin & Castille in Lafayette, for Lena V. Bergeron, 91, who died on Friday, March 8, 2013 at Magnolia Estates Nursing Home in Lafayette. Interment will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Deacon Kenneth Arnaud of St. Francis Regis Church in Arnaudville, will conduct the funeral services.
Survivors include her daughter, Dolores Simon; three sons, Chester Miller and his wife Diane, Austin Hebert and his wife Sue and Lee Venable and his wife Stephanie; one step-son, Robert Venable and his wife Mary; nine grandchildren, Hershel Miller, Angela Fields, Jason Simon, Chad Hebert, Douglas Hebert, Justin Venable, Erica Venable, Robbie Venable and Mark Venable; nine great grandchildren; and two sisters, Joyce Mire and Mary Robin and her husband Odel.
She was preceded in death by her son, Steven Lee Miller; parents, Jerome and Marie Trahan Bergeron; one step-son, Rodney Venable; and the fathers of her children, Sylvester Miller and David Venable.
A native of Scott and a resident of Lafayette for most of her life, Lena Bergeron, was retired from the Lafayette Parish School Board as a cafeteria worker. She had a joy for life, loved dancing and spending time with family and friends, especially cooking. She was famous for cooking her "little, skinny chickens". Lena Bergeron will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Pallbearers will be Justin Venable, Douglas Hebert, Matthew Fields, John Mire, Robert Trahan and Darrel Robin.
Visitation was observed in Martin & Castille's DOWNTOWN Lafayette location on Friday, March 8, 2013 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM and will continue today, Saturday, from 8:00 AM to the time of service. A Rosary was prayed on Friday at 7:00 PM in Martin & Castille Funeral Home.
