LAKE CHARLES - Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 19, 2012, at 3:00 PM in La Chapelle de Martin & Castille in Lafayette, for Leroy Britt, 67, who passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 15, 2012 in Christus St. Patrick Hospital, Dubuis Hospital, 5th Floor in Lake Charles surrounded by his family. Reverend Dr. Steve Horn of First Baptist Church of Lafayette, will officiate the funeral services. Jackie Little Britt will sing for the services.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his beloved wife of 40 years, Sandra Marie Hanks Britt; two sisters, Yvonne Britt Nosser and Sherrill Britt McCurley and her husband Ron; three brothers, L.J. Britt and his wife Jackie, Billy Jack Britt and his wife Lynn and Danny I. Britt; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Louie and Martha Willena Smith Britt; and one sister, Louise Britt Blackwell.

Leroy Britt was born on July 2, 1945 in Natchez Mississippi. He graduated from South Natchez High School and went on to join the United States Navy, where he proudly served his country during the Vietnam War. Following the war, Mr. Britt enrolled in Hinds Junior Community College in Raymond Mississippi, where he majored in Electronic Engineering Technology and earned an Associates Degree in Applied Sciences. Mr. Britt also attended Southwest Louisiana Technical Institute in Crowley, earning a degree in Computer Electronics. He continued his education at Grantham College of Engineering, earning an Associates Degree in Science in Engineering Technology with a major emphasis in computers as well as a Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering Technology with major emphasis in computers. Mr. Britt worked as an electronic technician for Schlumberger for over 8 years, and continued in the oilfield as a technician for Dresser-Atlas, McCullough Wireline Services, Western Atlas International and ComputerLog. He was currently employed at Weatherford for the last eight years. He enjoyed leather crafts, computers, electronics and spending time with his family. Mr. Britt will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

The family acknowledges the loving care given by the administration and nursing staff at Dubuis Hospital.

The family requests that visitation be observed at Martin & Castille's DOWNTOWN Lafayette location on Sunday, November 18, 2012 from 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM and on Monday from 8:00 AM until the time of service.
