LAFAYETTE - Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 9, 2014 at a 10:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial in St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church in Lafayette for Louis Allen "Brud" Cormier, 83, who died on Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at Regional Medical Center of Acadiana surrounded by his family.
Interment will be held in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Lafayette.
Reverend Thomas Voorhies, Pastor of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Scott, will be the Celebrant of the funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Lectors will be Sheila Bourque and Angela Chachere. Giftbearers will be Jamie Robin, Nicole Martin and Pam Credeur. Debbie Moran, Scott Bourgeois, Randy Bourgeois and Mark Conque will provide the musical selections.
He leaves to cherish his memory, two daughters Vickie Falcon and her husband, Nalton and Jennifer Cormier; two sons, Ricky Allen Cormier and his wife, Dolores and Kenneth Louis Cormier and his wife, Terry; seven grandchildren, Jamie Robin and her husband, Brandt, Shannon Falcon, Casey Richard and his wife, Melineh, Toby Richard, Ryan Cormier and his wife, Arrenia "Nikki", Nicole Martin and her husband, Dustin and Jake Cormier; five great grandchildren, Cameron Robin, Bailey Robin, Remy Richard, Colt Cormier and Savannah Cormier; one brother, Donald Cormier and his wife, Thelma; and four sisters, Mae Helen Guidry and her husband, Albert, Anna Lee Boss and her husband, Hubert, Wilma Charlotte and Alicia Courville.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lula Mae Sonnier Cormier; one daughter, Kathleen Credeur; one infant son, Paul Cormier; one grandchild, Justin Cormier; one brother, John Earl Cormier; and his parents, Louis and Bella Domingue Cormier.
Louis Allen Cormier was born on October 7, 1930 in Cankton, Louisiana. "Brud", as his friends and family knew him, was a cattleman and also loved horse racing, gardening and anything that brought him into the outdoors. He was an avid sports fan, and often followed the New Orleans Saints and the New York Yankees. "Brud" was a loving father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and friend to all and will be dearly missed.
Pallbearers will be Ryan Cormier, Toby Richard, Casey Richard, Shannon Falcon, Jake Cormier, Dustin Martin and Brandt Robin. Honorary pallbearers will be Dale Dupuis, Colt Cormier and Cameron Robin.
A Rosary will be recited by Sister Hilda Mallet on Thursday, May 8, 2014 at 7:00 PM in Martin & Castille's DOWNTOWN location. The Bonne Mort Society will recite a special daily Rosary for Mr. Cormier.
The family requests that visitation be observed on Thursday, May 8, 2014 beginning at 9:00 AM and will continue throughout the evening until service time at 10:00 AM on Friday, May 9, 2014.
