LAFAYETTE - Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 17, 2014 at a 10:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial in Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist for Mabel Mouton Broussard, 92, who died on Tuesday, May 13, 2014 in Katy, Texas.

Interment will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Lafayette.

Reverend Chester Arceneaux, Rector of Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist, will be the Celebrant of the funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services.

She leaves to cherish her memory her children, Daniel Broussard and his wife, Sharon, David Broussard and his wife, Vicki, Laurence Broussard and his wife, Joan, Julie Snader and her husband, Tom, and Christine Canzoneri and her husband, George; eight grandchildren; three great grandchildren; one sister, Ruth Buniva; and one brother-in-law, Henry P. Hebert.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Whitney and Lucille DeJean Mouton; two sisters, Marvel Mouton and Judith Hebert; and one brother, Charles Mouton.

Mabel Mouton Broussard was born on February 10, 1922 in Lafayette, Louisiana and raised there most of her life. She attended Mount Carmel School, and went on to Graduate from Southwestern with a degree in Education. As a military wife, she traveled extensively throughout the United States while raising her growing family. She was a well-respected Social Studies and Language Arts teacher in Lafayette Parish, a member of the Daughters of the Confederacy and an active member of Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church Community until her relocation to Texas. She was fluent in several languages, and loved all things French. Mabel was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

The family requests that visitation be observed at Martin & Castille's DOWNTOWN Location on Saturday, May 17, 2014 from 8:00 AM until time of services.
