Muriel McKay Pfister

NEW ORLEANS - Muriel McKay Pfister of New Orleans, Louisiana passed away peacefully on April 5, 2014. She was born on May 8, 1919 in New Orleans to James F. McKay Sr. and Viola Scully McKay. Muriel was a life-long resident of the Lakeview area and St. Dominic parish until Katrina. She was a graduate of St. Joseph High School and attended Ursuline College. She also worked for the National Finance Center of the U.S. Army at the Port of Embarkation. She is survived by her three children, Sharon (Joe), Susan (Perry) and Michael (Shira). Her ten grandchildren Jody, Scott, Kevin, Shannon, Kristen, Erin, Michael, Nicholas, Alaina, and Alexis and 13 great grandchildren. Along with an abundance of nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Joseph E. Pfister, Jr. and her brother James F. McKay, Jr. She was greatly loved and will be deeply missed by her family and friends and all those that knew her.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Dominic Catholic Church, 775 Harrison Avenue, New Orleans, La. on Thursday, April 10, 2014 at 1:00 P.M. Visitation will begin at 11:00 A.M. until service time. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to St. Dominic School, 6326 Memphis Street, New Orleans, La., 70124, 504-482-4123.
