LAFAYETTE - Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 5, 2014 at an 11:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Paul the Apostle Church in Lafayette for Rushton John Mouton, age 98, who passed away Sunday, March 30, 2014 at 5:30 a.m. at his residence in Lafayette.

Interment will be in Evangeline Memorial Gardens in Carencro. The Rev. Robert Seay, pastor of St. Paul the Apostle Church in Lafayette, will officiate at the services.

Mr. Mouton was a native of Broussard and a resident of Lafayette for all of his life. He was a parishioner of St. Paul the Apostle Church in Lafayette. Mr. Mouton enjoyed fishing, playing cards and attending baseball games. Mr. Mouton was employed by Mr. Bob Lowe and Mr. Jim Roy for over sixty years.

Survivors include one son, Joseph Mouton and his wife, Leona, of Kansas City, MO; three daughters, Lois Dugas of Carencro, Ella Louise Simon and her husband, Albert and Oradell Ford and her husband, Harvey all of Lafayette; one step daughter, Joyce Marie McZeal of Lafayette; sixteen grandchildren; thirty seven great grandchildren; thirty eight great, great grandchildren; two brothers, John Carlton Mouton and Paul Wilfred Mouton, both of Lafayette; and one sister, Dorothy Mouton of Fort Lauderdale, FL.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Eva Dean Onezine Mouton; his second wife, Eunice Faulk Mouton; one infant son, Michael Mouton; one daughter, Geneva Mouton; five brothers, Alton Joseph Mouton, Edward Joseph Mouton, Paul Clifton Mouton, Lawrence Mouton and Joseph Gilbert Mouton; and five sisters, Ella Mae Mouton Onezine, Martha Mouton Alexander, Hazel Mouton Sterling, Lilly Mouton Green and Mable Mouton Dean.

A rosary will be prayed at 9:00 a.m. Saturday in St. Paul the Apostle Church in Lafayette.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 7:00 a.m. Saturday until service time on Saturday in St. Paul the Apostle Church in Lafayette.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Salven Barlow, Jim Roy and the staff of L. Tech at Lafayette General Medical Center. Also, a special thanks to Heart of Hospice, Med Source and Acadiana Support.
