LAFAYETTE - Funeral services will be held Friday, December 13, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church for Shirlene Marie LeDoux Syrie, 66, who passed away December 8, 2013 at Louisiana Extended Care Facility.
Services will be conducted by Father Thomas James, S.V.D.
Shirlene graduated from St. John's Hospital School of Nursing in Springfield, MO in 1968. Her nursing career started at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital. She also worked at Hamilton Medical Center, Normal Life, Inc. and LARC (Lafayette Association for Retarded Citizens). She retired in May of 2010.
Shirlene was an active parishioner of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church and a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary's People's Choir for many years.
She leaves to cherish her memory her husband of 42 years, Clifton Syrie; her only daughter, Jillian Ashley Syrie; her one and only beloved grandson, Jaylen Myles Syrie-Southall; one brother, Cornell (Maria) Ledoux; one sister, Patricia (Larry) Davis; four sisters-in-law, JoAnn Martin, Sedonia V. Syrie, Virgie (Joseph, Sr.) Cotton, Evelyn E. Syrie; three brothers-in-law, Albert (Josey) Syrie, Sr., Willie (Georgia) Syrie, Wesley (Mary) Syrie and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Viola Merricks LeDoux and Leonard LeDoux; her sister, Virdine Davis; maternal and paternal grandparents; mother and father-in-law, Sedonia G. and Carol Syrie, Sr.; sisters-in-law, Willie Mae Hopkins, Lillie Mae Syrie; brothers-in-law, Augustus Davis, Jr., Carol Syrie, Jr., Neville Syrie, Sr., James L. Syrie, Nelson P. Hopkins, Sr. and Clarence Martin.
Visitation will be held Friday, December 13, 2013 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church from 8:00 a.m. until time of service.
A rosary will be recited at 9:00 a.m.
