LAFAYETTE - Funeral services will be held Friday, July 19, 2013 at 1:30 p.m. at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church for Shirley Ophelia Leblanc Wiltz, 77, who died July 11, 2013 at Lafayette General Medical Center.
Services will be conducted by Fr. Hampton Davis.
Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.
On June 6, 1936 Shirley Ophelia Leblanc Wiltz was born to Fabelio Robertson. On Thursday, July 11, 2013 Shirley Leblanc Wiltz was called home to meet her Lord and Savior. Shirley was born in Lafayette, LA where she remained a lifelong resident. Shirley met and married her first love, Eldrick Joseph Wiltz, Sr. This union brought along seven wonderful children. Shirley retired from the Lafayette City Police Department where she was identified as an Exemplary Communications Dispatcher. Shirley was a dedicated parishioner of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church where she served on the Ladies Altar Society. She was also a member of the Lafayette Improvement Corporation and the NAACP. She also received the Martin Luther King Award.
Shirley, better known as "Mom", was always desirous to help and advise others. Shirley had a marvelous nature and magnificent spirit. She was best known for being vociferous and making others smile.
Shirley was a loving and dedicated mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She leaves to cherish her memories one son, Michael Anthony Wiltz (Georgiana) of Lafayette, LA; three daughters, Faye Wiltz Delcambre of Lafayette, LA, Marilyn Ann Wiltz of Lafayette, LA and Karen Lee Wiltz (Marcus) of Dallas, TX; 19 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; two sisters, Jeanette Wiltz and Ruby Wiltz; two brothers, Lester Babineaux and Chester Sonnier and a host of brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Eldrick Joseph Wiltz, Sr.; one daughter, Carolyn Marie Wiltz; two sons, Eldrick Joseph Wiltz, Jr. and Carlos James Wiltz; one grandson, Cody Lee Delcambre, Sr.; mother, Fabelio Robertson; one sister, Mary Ann Lavan; one brother, Willie Leblanc.
Visitation will be held Friday, July 19, 2013 at Syrie Funeral Home from 7 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.
