Simone Antoinette Arceneaux

CARENCRO - Graveside services will be held Saturday, January 7, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. in St. Peter Catholic Cemetery in Carencro for Simone Antoinette Arceneaux, age 91, the former Simone Antoinette Richard who passed away Tuesday, December 20, 2016 at Amelia Manor Nursing Home in Lafayette.

Rev. Mark Ledoux, pastor of St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, will officiate at the services.

Mrs. Arceneaux was a native of Chatelineau, Belgium and met her husband when he was stationed there as an Army soldier. They were married in 1945 and lived in various Belgian locations after which Mrs. Arceneaux became a resident of New Roads where she was employed by ASC and taught herself English. Later she and her husband moved to Carencro where she was a parishioner of St. Peter Roman Catholic Church. She was employed by Lafayette Sanitarium, was the librarian at St. Pierre School where she also sang in the choir. She was the caregiver to her father-in-law in the final two years of his life while also supporting her son and his friends as Den Mother. She served as a mother of the Altar Boys and was a member of various organizations including Bonne Mort Society, Sacred Heart League, St Anne Society, Ladies Altar Society and Lady of the Snow.

Survivors include one son, Joseph Lee Roy Arceneaux, Jr. and his wife Jennifer of Iowa; and one granddaughter, Anais Simone Arceneaux.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Lee Roy Arceneaux, Sr.; her parents, Valentin D. Richard and the former Angelle Van Bellinghem; one infant brother, Valentin Richard, Jr.; and one sister, Germaine Richard.
