DELCAMBRE - A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted for Mrs. Bonis Chiasson, the former Vida LeBlanc, age 93, at 3:00 pm Tuesday, December 27, 2011 at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church. Fr. Herb Bennerfield will be the celebrant for the service. Interment will follow at Our Lady of the Lake Mausoleum.
Visitation will be held from 9:30 am on Tuesday until service time.
A native of Erath and resident of Delcambre, Mrs. Chiasson passed away at 10:50 pm on Saturday, December 24, 2011 at Abbeville General Hospital.
Mrs. Chiasson was a member of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church and the St. Anne's Altar Society. She was a member of the Golden Age Club where she served as President for many years.
Mrs. Chiasson was a cafeteria worker at Delcambre High and then served as a postal clerk and Asst. Post Master for the US Postal Service.
She enjoyed playing cards with her friends and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved her.
Mrs. Chiasson is survived by her three daughters, Stella Frederick and husband David and Anna Trahan and husband Ryan all of Delcambre and Beryl Sonnier and husband Stifford of Erath; twelve grandchildren, Jill Romero, Davy Frederick, Andy Frederick, Annie Melancon, Len Frederick, Rhonda Vincent, Brad Trahan, Mark Trahan, Daleen Thibodeaux, Darla Theriot, Mandy Vincent and Brent Belanger and twenty four great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bonis Chiasson; parents, Lenest and Giles Broussard LeBlanc; two sisters, Lucille LeBlanc and Alma Decareaux and one brother, Emmick LeBlanc.
Pallbearers will be Davy Frederick, Andy Frederick, Len Frederick, Brad Trahan, Mark Trahan and Brent Belanger.
Donations may be made in her name to Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, 206 West Church Street-Delcambre, LA 70528.
The family would like to thank Jamie Baudoin and Cindy Hargrave for the concern, compassion and care of their mother.
