LAFAYETTE - Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 8, 2014 at a 1:00 PM Mass of Christian Burial in Martin & Castille's La Fleur de Lis Chapel for Zachary "Zach" Alan Henson, 29, who died on Sunday, March 2, 2014 in Lubbock, Texas.
Interment will be in Holy Family Cemetery in New Iberia.
Reverend William Ruskoski, Associate Pastor of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, will be the Celebrant of the funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Lectors will be Germaine Comeaux and Garrett LaBorde. Gift Bearers will be Jessica Henson Caldarera, Katherine Henson Dawes, and Amy Henson. Karen Broussard, organist and soloist, will sing for the services, "I Have Loved You," "Amazing Grace," "Rock Of Ages," and "On Eagles' Wings."
He leaves to cherish his memory his father, Otis Henson and his wife, Kathy Otterstatter Henson; two brothers, Mark Henson and his wife, Cheryll, and Russell Henson and his wife, Frances; one step-brother, Garrett LaBorde and his wife, Jennifer; three nephews, Jacob Henson, Jackson Sylvester and William LaBorde; and four nieces, Jessica Henson Caldarera, Lee Anne Henson, Katherine Henson Dawes, and Amy Henson.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Rebecca Marting Henson; and one sister, Jolynn Henson.
Zachary Alan Henson was born in Lafayette, Louisiana on February 8, 1985. He was a graduate of St. Thomas More Catholic High School where he was a member of the All State Golf Team. Zach, as his family and friends knew him, was an Eagle Scout, an avid golfer and outdoorsman. He attended and was a huge fan, of Texas Tech University. While a student at Texas Tech, Zach was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon and served as Eminent Archon of SAE, Texas Alpha Chapter in 2005. Zach lived his dream as a professional golf caddie. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Pallbearers will be Mark Henson, Russell Henson, Garrett LaBorde, Jacob Henson, Joel Lytle, Eugene Chiarulli and Michael Harrower. Honorary pallbearers will be, Josh Caldarera, Dustin Dawes, Charles "Spike" Hawthorne, Glen Comeaux and all of his SAE Brothers.
A Rosary will be recited on Friday, March 7, 2014 at 7:00 PM in Martin & Castille's SOUTHSIDE Location.
The family requests that visitation be observed on Friday from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM and will continue on Saturday from 9:00 AM until time of services.
