Wilda Mire Brodhead

LAFAYETTE - Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 22, 2014, at a 10:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial in St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Maurice for Wilda Mire Brodhead, 82, who passed away peacefully on Friday, April 18, 2014, at Lafayette General Medical Center.

Entombment will follow in St. Alphonsus Mausoleum.

Reverend Keith Landry, Pastor of St. Anne Catholic Church in Cow Island, will be the Celebrant of the funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Lectors will be Jamie Brodhead and Kirk Brodhead. Giftbearers will be Kate Brodhead and Joyce Romero. Valerie Andrus, organist and soloist, will sing for the services, "Isaiah 49", "On Eagles' Wings", "The Old Rugged Cross" and "J'rai La Voir Un Jour".

Survivors include her son, Doug Brodhead and his wife, Kate of Cypress, TX.; two grandchildren, Bryce Paul Brodhead and Britt Paul Brodhead and his wife, Jamie Richey Brodhead; two great grandchildren, Claire and Lane Brodhead; five sisters, Joyce Romero, Margaret Romero, Gladys Cloteaux, Grace Broussard and Mildred Hebert.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Herbert P. Brodhead; her parents, Wilton J. Mire and Therese Granger Mire; her sisters, Betty Mire Touchet and Genevieve Mire Himel.

A native and lifelong resident of Lafayette, Louisiana, Mrs. Brodhead was retired from USL having worked in the student bookstore for 21 years. She was a member of the Ladies Altar Society at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Maurice and a faithful parishioner.

Pallbearers will be Bryce Brodhead, Britt Brodhead, Jackie Barnidge, Koby Touchet, Lee Cloteaux and Ray Romero.

A Rosary will be prayed on Monday, April 21, 2014, at 7:00PM in Martin & Castille Funeral Home.

The family requests that visitation be observed at Martin & Castille's SOUTHSIDE location on Monday from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and will continue on Tuesday from 8:00 AM until time of services.

Doug and Kate Brodhead extends a heartfelt appreciation to the staff at Maison de Lafayette for the loving care they provided to Wilda for the last 4 1/2 years. Also to the staff in Lafayette General's ICU and 8th floor for their compassion shown during our mother's time of need. May God bless you all for the way you have blessed us.
