Amos Savoy Obituary
Amos Lloyd Savoy

LAFAYETTE - Mr. Amos Lloyd Savoy passed away on May 19, 2014, at the age of 79. Lloyd, as everyone called him, was born on November 15, 1934 in Eunice, LA to Amos "Buck" Savoy and Maude Leger. Lloyd was a graduate of St. Edmond Catholic School in Eunice, LA.

Shortly after meeting and marrying the love of his life Ursula, on May 9, 1954, he began a long and prosperous employment in the oilfield. Lloyd started with Oilwell Supply Division, United States Steel in Eunice, LA in the mid-1950's. Although he left Oilwell for a short time to pursue the insurance industry, his true passion was the Oilfield. He returned to Oilwell and remained there until his retirement. After retirement, Lloyd and "Sis", as everyone calls her, enjoyed spending time with family and friends at their camp on the Calcasieu River. Work always seemed to call him back. He was then employed in the oilfield with Gefco King until the time of his passing. Lloyd's passions in life were to be around family and friends, spending time on the river and hunting white tail deer in West Texas.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Ursula (Sis) Manuel Savoy; daughter, Debra Savoy Riedman and her husband Jeff, of Connersville, Indiana; two sons, Keith Savoy and his wife Karin, of Youngsville and Amos Savoy and his wife Kay, of Duson; five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and two brothers, Raymond Savoy and Jimmie Savoy.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Wayne Savoy.

Lloyd was a loving husband, grandfather and great-grandfather and will be sadly missed by all who knew him. He was a mentor to many individuals and proudly left behind 60 years of faithful workmanship in the oilfield.

Services will be held at Fountain Memorial Funeral Home on Thursday May 22, 2014, between the hours of 11:00am and 2:00pm. Interment will immediately follow in St. Basil Catholic Church Cemetery in Duson, LA.

In lieu of flowers, the family wishes donations to be made to Hospice of Acadiana, 2600 Johnston St, Suite 200, Lafayette LA 70503.

Fountain Memorial Funeral Home and Cemetery of Lafayette, 1010 Pandora St., (337) 981-7098 is in charge of arrangements.
