LAFAYETTE - Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 12, 2014 at a 12:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Genevieve Catholic Church for Maxie J. Robertson, age 74, who passed away Tuesday, July 8, 2014 at Lafayette General Medical Center in Lafayette.
Interment will be in Evangeline Memorial Gardens in Carencro. The Rev. Brian Taylor, pastor of St. Genevieve Catholic Church, will officiate at the services.
Mr. Robertson was a native of Delcambre and a resident of Lafayette. He was employed with Texaco, now Chevron, for over twenty-five years. He also owned Max Night Club in Delcambre for over twenty-four years. He was a parishioner of St. Genevieve Catholic Church. Mr. Robertson enjoyed bingo, fishing, cooking and baking. He was very family oriented; he raised all of his children and grandchildren and was a very good caregiver for his wife.
Survivors include his loving wife of fifty one years, Mary Louise Senegal; two sons, Maxie Robertson and his wife, Alayna, and Corey Robertson and his wife, Melissa, all of Houston; three daughters, Lana Landry of Lafayette, Delilah Robertson of Houston, TX, and Vanessa Robertson of Lafayette; one brother, Howard Robertson, Jr. and his wife, Virginia, of Erath; three sisters, Melva Zenon of Grosse Isle, Janell Wilson of Abbeville and Irene Williams of Abbeville; one sister in law, Theresa Robertson of Erath; twelve grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard Robertson, Sr. and the former Nellie Rankin; one brother, Marshall Robertson; and one great grandson, Cameron Michael George.
A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 5:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. Friday and will continue from 8:00 a.m. until service time on Saturday.
