Charlie "Wine" Thibodeaux

LAFAYETTE - A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Thursday, July 24, 2014 at 1:00 pm at Fountain Memorial Funeral Home in Lafayette for Charlie "Wine" Thibodeaux, 66, who passed away Monday, July 21, 2014 at his home in Lafayette.

Visitation was observed on Wednesday, July 23, 2014 from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm and resumed Thursday, July 24, 2014 at 11:00 am until the time of services, at Fountain Memorial Funeral Home in Lafayette.

A rosary was recited Wednesday, July 23, 2014 at 7:00 pm at Fountain Memorial Funeral Home.

Entombment followed in Fountain Memorial Cemetery in Lafayette.

Father Patrick Broussard, Father Matthew Barzare and Father William Schambough, all of the Lafayette area, officiated.

Charlie was born January 30, 1948 in Eunice, LA and was a lifetime resident of Acadiana. He graduated from LSU in Baton Rouge, LA with a Bachelor's Degree in Finance. Charlie was active in his community and loved his Cajun culture, "cajan par la grace de dieu". He was an avid tennis player and musician. Most of all, Charlie loved spending time with his family and friends.

Charlie was survived by his beloved wife of 45 years, Linda M. Thibodeaux of Lafayette, LA; his son, Trae Thibodeaux of Bossier City, LA; his daughter, Candi Thibodeaux Guilbeau and her husband, Andre of The Woodlands, TX; five grandchildren, Cortland and Braden Thibodeaux, Monet Guilbeau, Alicia Blagg and Kristen Craft and two great-granddaughters, Hannah Claire and Anna Kathryn.

He was preceded in death by his father, Lloyd Joseph Thibodeaux and his mother, Euna Mae McGee Thibodeaux and his sister, Jean Doris Thibodeaux.

Pallbearers were Steve Broussard, Steve Riley, Rock Brunet, Jacque Pucheu, Benny Feucht, Bubba Frey, Ivan Lavergne, T-Boy Guidry, John DeJean, David Bordes and Burnie Smith.

The family wished to remember all of his music friends throughout the years, his tennis buddies and the Staff of Red Lerille's Health & Racquet Club. They wished to thank the incredible Medical Staff of MD Anderson, the office of Dr. Kenneth Spiller and Dr. Mark Mettauer for the compassionate care given to Charlie and his family. They also wished to thank the amazing Staff and clients of the Miles Perret Center. A special thanks to his caregivers in the end, Rose and Carla.
