Lawrence Huey "Sunny" Olivier

CHURCH POINT - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 pm on Thursday, July 31, 2014 at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church for Lawrence Huey "Sunny" Olivier, 78, who passed away on Tuesday, July 29, 2014 at 12:06 AM at his residence.

Msgr. Jefferson Deblanc, Pastor of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, will be the Celebrant of the Mass.

Entombment will take place in Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Mausoleum - Hwy 35.

Mr. Huey, a lifelong resident of Church Point, was the son of the late Lawrence Olivier and the former Evelyn Higginbotham.

He is survived by one daughter, Rochelle Olivier of Church Point, LA; one son, Darby Olivier of Church Point, LA; eight grandchildren, Simone B. Daigle and husband Cullen, Allison Benoit and fiance James Meche, Jr.,Jordan Benoit, Colby Leger, Tiffany Olivier, Alona Olivier, Tricia Olivier and Tara Olivier all of Church Point, LA; six great grandchildren, Madisyn, Cole and Leigha Daigle, Hayden Meche, Raegan Elkins and Ana'Leah Rose and three sisters, Letha Briley and Beverly Quebodeaux of Church Point, LA and Judy Decou of Youngsville, LA.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Nell Olivier, two sons, Randy and Dirk Olivier; two sisters, Cynthia Olivier and Shirley Matte and two brothers, Julian Guillory and Byron Olivier.

Mr. Huey, along with his wife Nell, established "Sunny's Fried Chicken" in 1972, a family restaurant specializing in fried chicken. Co-managing it for 28 years, they made it a popular eating and meeting place for Church Point and the surrounding areas. He was a Navy veteran of the Korean War, played his accordion and loved French Music. Mr. Olivier also loved to fish. He was a businessman in the Church Point area and owned such businesses as Sunny's Limousine and Magic Touch Carwash. "Grand Daddy's" greatest passion was his family, spending time with all of them and calling them by their special nick names.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Guidry Funeral Home on, Wednesday, July 30, 2014 from 11:00 am until 9:00 pm and continue on Thursday from 8:00 am until the time of services. A rosary will be recited in the funeral home Wednesday evening at 7:00 pm.

Pallbearers will be Cullen Daigle, James Meche, Jr., Jordan Benoit, Colby Leger, Trey Stanford, and Hayden Meche.
