LAFAYETTE - Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 4, 2014 at a 10:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial in La Chapelle de Martin & Castille in Lafayette for Dolores "Aunt Yo" Robichaux Pothier, age 82, who died peacefully surrounded by her family at 9:00 PM on Friday, August 1, 2014 at her residence in Lafayette.
Entombment will be in Calvary Mausoleum.
Reverend Brian Taylor, Pastor of St. Genevieve Catholic Church in Lafayette will be the Celebrant of the Funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Lectors will be Barbara Guidroz and her godchild, Pat Begnaud. Giftbearers will be Ann Pothier, Linda Pothier, Rita Martin, Jan Pothier, Crystal Pothier Carrier and Janie Pothier. Jodi Bollich, organist, will sing for the services, "Amazing Grace", "The Old Rugged Cross", "Hail Mary, Gentle Woman" and "The Wind Beneath My Wings".
Survivors include a daughter, Denise Pothier; four sons, Ernest John Pothier and his wife Ann, Bradley "Bubba" Pothier, Jr. and his wife Linda, Brian Paul Pothier and Troy James Pothier and his wife Jan; four grandchildren, Brandon Pothier and his girlfriend Angela, Christopher Pothier, Joshua Pothier and his wife Janie and Crystal Pothier Carrier and her husband Cale; four great grandchildren, Elise, Johanna, Gavin and Baylee; one sister, Henrietta R. Romero; and sisters-in-law, Rose Mary C. Robicheaux, and Rita Martin.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Bradley Joseph Pothier, Sr. on May 25, 2011; her parents, Joseph Euzalian Robichaux and the former, Mary Lavinia Boudreaux Robichaux; five sisters, Eula Mae R. Guidry, Rosemary R. Guidry, Beatrice R. Figueron, Jaunita R. Begnaud and Dardenella R. Folse; and three brothers, O.J. Robichaux, Malcolm Robichaux and Carroll B.Robichaux, Sr. and Darrell T. Robichaux.
Mrs. Pothier was a lifelong resident of Lafayette, Louisiana and a member of St. Genevieve Catholic Church. She enjoyed fishing, dancing and spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mrs. Pothier was a huge New Orleans Saints and New York Yankees fan. She was a wonderful role model for the family with a great positive attitude. She will be dearly missed.
Pallbearers will be Ernest Pothier, Brian Pothier, Bubba Pothier, Troy Pothier, Brandon Pothier, Christopher Pothier, Joshua Pothier, and Cale Carrier.
The family requests that visitation be observed in Martin & Castille's DOWNTOWN location on Sunday from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM and on Monday from 8:00 AM until time of service.
A Rosary will be recited by Brenda Figueron Knight on Sunday at 6:30 PM in Martin & Castille Funeral Home.
The family would like to extend their appreciation to the staff of the Cancer Center of Acadiana and to Dr. Deborah Johnson for the loving care. Also, special thanks to Louisiana Hospice and Palliative Care.
