Mary Lea Brown Babineaux, "Sis", was born to Claude and Madeline Bernard Brown, Sr. on December 19, 1929. "Mrs. Sis" was a native and a lifelong resident of Carencro. It was there that she met her soul mate and spouse of over sixty years, Antoine "Slim" Babineaux, Sr. She was not only a devout member of Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church, but also a commanding force in the lives of everyone who knew her. "Sis" welcomed all who crossed her doorstep with open arms and a warm smile. If you were in need of counsel, she lent her ear; if you needed nourishment, she fed you; and if you needed shelter, she opened her home. "Sis" was a devoted and loyal wife, dedicated and loving mother, doting grandmother and friend to all. She will be truly missed.
"Sis" leaves to celebrate her homecoming, eleven children; Madeline Carter and her husband, Junius, of Lake Charles, Antoine Babineaux, Jr. and his wife, Deannie, Deanna Babineaux, Marcus Babineaux and his wife, Paula, Samuel Babineaux, Simon Babineaux and his wife, Keisha, Dudley Babineaux and his wife, Melissa, Drucella Babineaux, Denise Babineaux and Ronald Marks, all of Carencro, Michael Babineaux and his wife, Karolyn, of Lafayette; one sister, Anna Johnson of Carencro; twenty one grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and a host of other family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Antoine "Slim" Babineaux, Sr., of Carencro; two daughters, baby girl Babineaux and Dolores Babineaux of Carencro; her parents, Claude Brown, Sr. and the former, Madeline Bernard, of Carencro; two brothers, Claude Brown, Jr. and Dennis Brown of Carencro; and a host of in-laws.
A rosary will be prayed at 8:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 7:00 a.m. Saturday until service time on Saturday.
Pallbearers will be Antoine Babineaux, Jr., Samuel Babineaux, Simon Babineaux, Marcus Babineaux, Michael Babineaux, Dudley Babineaux and Ronald Marks. Honorary pallbearers will be her grandsons and son-in-law.
