Mr. Broussard, a resident of Lafayette, LA, was the son of the late Jean Martin Broussard of Maurice, Louisiana and the former Therilze Dronet of Maurice, Louisiana. Isaac was a member of St. Basil Church. He was a veteran of WWII and the Korean conflict, serving his country in the US Navy for 24 years before retiring at the rank of Chief Petty Officer. After retiring from the U.S. Navy, he was employed as operations manager by St. Genevieve Catholic Church and School, Fr. Mr. Broussard was a member of the Fleet Reserve Association, and the VFW Post 9822. He was also a member of the Dancing Group "Krewe de Cannille" and was elected King Danser Cajun at the Mardi Gras Ball in 1995. He and his wife won many awards for their elaborate Mardi Gras costumes and also won many trophies for dance contests. He loved dancing, cruising and traveling abroad. Mr. Broussard and his wife traveled as official "good will ambassadors" to France from Lafayette and the Cajun People on four different occasions, and enjoyed many cruises promoting Cajun and Zydeco dancing. From their travels, they made many wonderful friends.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Bertha Trahan Broussard; two sons, Wally Dean Broussard and his wife Sylvia of Lafayette, and Troy Gerard Broussard and his wife Ann of Metairie; two granddaughters, Tania Kay Mincey and her husband Joel of Arlington, TX, and Kristi Lynn Kelly of Lafayette; five grand sons, Joshua Trent Broussard, Christopher Paul Broussard, Caleb Michael Broussard, Timothy Jordan Broussard, and Grayson Philip Broussard; four great grandchildren, Patrick Dean Kelly, Madeleine Nicole Mincey, Kaylynn Marie Kelly, and Trina May Broussard; two sisters, Mrs. Lennis "Ella" Faulk, and Theresa Broussard; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, Alpheus, Zenon, Edward, and John Eli Broussard; five sisters, Mrs. Willy "Edmay" Racca, Mrs. Laurent "Emella" Touchet, Miss Jeanne Broussard, Mrs. Obrey "Laura" Duhon and Mrs. Cliffey "Elina" Broussard.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home of Lafayette on Wednesday, September 8, 2010 from 4:00 pm until 9:00 pm and on Thursday from 8:00 am until the time of service.

Dear Broussards: Our prayers and thoughts are with you. Isaac will be remembered for his love of life, his joy in life, and his devotion to his family. I so remember him and his dance group dancing with our accounting group at a convention in Lafayette. He was the last one to leave the floor. Pat and Jerry Marshall, Austin, Tx

Dear Wally and family,
I know at this time the pain and sorrow you are feeling. However, I also know the pride, love and admiration you are experiencing toward and for your Dad.

I had the good fortune to know your DAD and shared a few good laughs with him.
My father, as you know passed away in December 2010, loved and had a great deal of respect for your DAD. That generation earned respect of others. Your father was no different.
We are loosing a rare and honorable generation of CAJUNS, who live life like it was meant to be lived, with honor, love of family, honesty and deep religious belief. Your Dad was no exception. My prayers and the prayers of my family are with you, your mother and family during your time of sorrow. Your DAD has earned his place of eternal life with GOD.

God Bless

Dale
