Homer Ferrington Obituary
Memorial services will be held Wednesday, October 20, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. in Melancon Funeral Home, Evangeline Memorial Gardens Chapel, for Homer Lee Ferrington, age 65, who was taken home to Jesus on Saturday, October 16, 2010 at 5:22 a.m. at his residence in Carencro.
The Pastor David Baudoin of Crossroads Church will officiate at the services.
Mr. Ferrrington was a native of Leesville and a resident of Carencro. He was a member of the 1962 graduating class from Leesville High School and a Golden Century Member of the Leesville High School Alumni. Homer attended LSU Agriculture and Louisiana Tech University. Mr. Ferrington was a veteran of the military having proudly served his country in the U. S. Air Force, he spent four years active duty and was honorably discharged. Homer worked for Noble Drilling for over 30 years and retired having a rig named Noble Homer Ferrington in his honor. Throughout his life, Homer enjoyed bull riding, fishing, hunting, camping, rodeo, country music, LSU football, and spending time with his family. Homer was a loving husband, great provider and a wonderful father. Everything he accomplished in life, he gave his all.
Survivors include his wife of 28 years, Phyllis Kersh Ferrington of Carencro; three daughters, Tammy Ferrington and her fiancé, Casey Honeycutt, of West Monroe, Jolyn Calhoun D'Angelo and her husband, Joe, of Houma and Susan Calhoun and her fiancé, Chad Romero, of Lafayette; two sons, Justin Ferrington of Carencro and Darren Green of Baton Rouge; eleven grandchildren, Taylor, Morgan, Colton, Brooke, Brittany, Jody, Erika, Blaize, Braxton, Brailynn, and Jordan; four brothers, Sam Olen Kay, Jr. of Sugartown, LA, Sam T. Harrison of Leesville, LA, Charles R. Kay, Sr. of New Llano, LA, and Sam D. Kay of Leesville; three sisters, Mona Bea Johnson of Galveston, TX, Peggy Herrin of Ashland City, TN, and Linda Smith of FL;; his special friends, Steve McMillan of Carencro, Marty Green, Randy Green, and Bill Stanak all of Columbia, MS; his spiritual friend, Anna Domengeaux; his special companion, his dog, Macy; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mecom Ferrington and the former Charlie Ruth Smith; his step father, Sam Olen Kay, Sr.; five brothers, Mickey Ferrington, Ronnie Kay, Donnie Kay, Flynn Kay, and Austin David Kay; one sister, Maudie Lee Kay.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. until service time on Wednesday.
