Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 pm on Sunday, January 2, 2011 in the Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers for Dr. Robert L. Trahan, 77, who passed away suddenly on December 31, 2010 at 12:02 am at Lafayette General Medical Center.

Reverend Kenneth Domingue, Pastor of St. Leo the Great Catholic Church in Leonville, La. will conduct the funeral services.
Burial will take place in Calvary Cemetery.
Dr. Bobby graduated from Cathedral Carmel High School in 1950, SLI (currently University of Louisiana at Lafayette) in 1954 and LSU Medical School in 1958. In 1962 he began a Radiology practice in Opelousas, LA with Dr. James Dugal. Dr. Leon Lastrapes and Dr. Henri McLemore later joined them. His most recent partners were Dr. Ro Risa Reina and Dr. Pamela Darr. They practiced in Hospitals throughout the Acadiana area including Crowley, Mamou, New Roads, Oakdale and Lafayette. Dr. Bobby loved his work and was able to fulfill a lifelong wish of working until the day he died.
In 1981, he along with his friends, Dr. Dudley Bienvenue and Dr. James McCarthy established New Beginnings Addiction Rehabilitation and Recovery Center. He enjoyed 27 years of sobriety through Alcoholics Anonymous.
Dr. Bobby, also known as Inayat, was a leader and passionate member of the Sufi Order International.
He is survived by his former wife and friend Carol Ann Trahan: he is also survived by his five children Maline Trahan Rees and her husband Steve, Morgan Trahan Dunn and her husband Pat, Robert Trahan and his wife Kirsten, Andre Nur Trahan and Sarah Jewel Trahan and their mother Carol H. Trahan; seven grandchildren, Libby, Stevie, Mac, Morgan, Bobbie, Miles and Madeleine; his sister, Olga Trahan Hebert, as well as many nieces and nephews and his father-in-law, Charles Avie Bordelon.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Galbert and Mathilde Trahan; his brothers, Manuel and Eugene Trahan; his sisters, Velma Trahan Begnaud, Laura Belle Trahan Guidry, and Aline Trahan Daberkow.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed on Sunday from 10:00 am until service time.

Pallbearers will be Robert L. Trahan, Jr., Stevie Rees, Robert "Mac" Rees, Pat Dunn, Dr. Lucius Doucet and Serial Rigmaiden. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Stephen Rees, Akbor Scott, Ricky Rees, Glenn Dailey and Gary Steckler.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Sufi Order International, 5 Abode Road, New Lebanon, NY 12125.
