CARENCRO - Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 17, 2011 at a 2:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Peter Roman Catholic Church in Carencro for Thelma Miller, age 86, the former Thelma Mistric, who passed away peacefully Tuesday, March 15, 2011 at 10:31 a.m. at her residence in Carencro.

Interment will be in St. Peter Catholic Cemetery in Carencro. The Rev. Bill Melancon, pastor of St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, will officiate at the services.

Mrs. Miller was a native of Leonville and a resident of Carencro most of her life. She was a parishioner of St. Peter Catholic Church and was a member of Bonne Mort Society and the Ladies Altar Society. She was the owner/operator of Miller's Superette and Miller's Washerette in Carencro. Mrs. Miller enjoyed the outdoors, fishing and camping. She also enjoyed spending time with her family and taking care of her loving granddaughters and great grandchildren.

Survivors include two daughters, Cynthia Walters and her husband, Jimmy, and Mona Bernard and her husband Daniel, all of Carencro; four granddaughters, Allison Walters Landry and her husband, Barrett, of Mire, Heather Bernard Watkins and her husband, Bobby, of Carencro, Angela Walters Landry and her husband, Ty, of Carencro, and Jill Bernard Melancon and her husband, Scott, of Carencro; six great grandchildren, Bailey Landry, Bryson Landry, Reese Landry, Lane Melancon, Kort Watkins and one expected in May. She was preceded in death by her husband, Honore Miller, parents, John Mistric and the former Alice Lalonde; and four brothers, Dieu Donne "D.J." Mistric, Lawrence Mistric, Meldric "Black" Mistric and Donne Dieu Mistric.

A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. Wednesday and will continue from 9:00 a.m. until service time on Thursday.

The family wishes to extend special thanks to Heart of Hospice and to her caregivers Pauline Gilliam, Christine Bernard, Bernita Jaqneaux and Dale Arnaud for taking care of Mrs.Thelma during her illness as if she was a member of their own family.

Pallbearers will be Daniel Bernard, Bobby Watkins, Scott Melancon, Barrett Landry, Ty Landry, and Glen Mistric. Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy Walters and Don Boudreaux.
