LAFAYETTE - A memorial service will be held Saturday, August 13, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Edmond Catholic Church, for Bertha Margaret Wasson Black, 86, who passed away July 22, 2011 in Lake City, Florida.
Fathe Gil Dutel and Deacon Paul Matte will officiate the memorial service.
Survivors include her beloved husband of 11 years, Vernon Black; daughters, Carol Broglio and husband, Joseph, of Lafayette, and Gail Corkhill, of Leesburg, Fla.; her stepchildren, Jim Black and wife, Brenda, Patty Coram and husband, Jim, and Kathy Dart and husband, Steve; four grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; six step grandchildren; two step great grandchildren; her siblings, Louise Coleman, Doris Renshaw, Esther Baker, Betty Adams, Nancy Fondrk, all of Pennsylvania, and John Wasson, of Texas.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Grace Criswell.
Bertha was born in Armstrong County, Pennsylvania. She was an avid bowler and holds the Florida Senior State Bowling Championship title of Top Women Bowler in her age group. She enjoyed traveling, playing Bingo and Scrabble, and occasional visits to the casino. A wonderful mother, a doting grandmother, an adoring wife, she was loved by everyone who knew her. Bertha will be deeply missed.
