Frances "Betty" Thibodeaux

LAFAYETTE - Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 27, 2011, at 1:00 PM in La Chapelle de Martin & Castille in Lafayette, for Frances "Betty" Thibodeaux, 86, of Lafayette, who passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday evening, October 25, 2011.

Entombment will be in Calvary Mausoleum.

Reverend Michael Keith Landry, Pastor of St. Anne Catholic Church in Cow Island, will conduct the funeral services. Karen Broussard, organist and soloist, will sing "Amazing Grace" and "One Day At A Time" for the services.

Mrs. Thibodeaux was born on July 28, 1925, in Morgan City, La. She is survived by son Wayne Thibodeaux of Lafayette, La., son Glen Thibodeaux and his wife Daphne of Carencro, La., nephews James Shepherd and his wife Angel of Chalmette, La., and Richard Shepherd and his wife Jenny of LaCombe, La.

Mrs. Thibodeaux is preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Leroy "Frenchie" Thibodeaux, parents Francis and Lillian Shepherd of New Orleans, La., and brother Ray Shepherd of Chalmette, La.

Mrs. Thibodeaux worked all her life as an office administrator in family businesses. Described by those who knew her as strong and independent, she remained active and kept herself informed on current events until her last days. She and her husband traveled often, and she continued to enjoy outings with her friends.

The family requests that visitation be observed in Martin & Castille's DOWNTOWN Lafayette location on Thursday, October 27, 2011 from 9:00 AM until time of service. A Rosary will be prayed on Thursday at 10:00 AM in Martin & Castille Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mrs. Thibodeaux's name to Heart of Hospice, 201 W. Vermillion St., Suite 200, Lafayette, LA 70501.
