LAFAYETTE - Funeral services will be held at an 11:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, April 24, 2012 in the Sunrise Chapel at Walters Funeral Home for Frances Venable Benoit, 94, who passed away on Saturday, April 21, 2012 at Lafayette General Medical Center. Services will be conducted by the Rev. Msgr. Robie E. Robichaux, of St. Leo the Great Catholic Church. Interment will take place at Calvary Cemetery.

Survivors include three daughters, Eva Dell Bower Baudoin and husband Tite of Lafayette, LA; Earline Bower Christ of Hamshire, TX; Linda Bower LeJeune of Scott, LA; three sons, Gerald Bower and wife Annette of Baton Rouge, LA; John Bower and wife Alix of Lafayette, LA; Jerry Bower and wife Nancy of Scott, LA; Keith Bower of Lake Charles, LA; one stepdaughter, Verna Mae Oliver and husband E.J; one stepson, Nolan Benoit and wife Mandell of Carencro, LA; fourteen grandchildren, twenty-five great grandchildren, and eight great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Munroe Venable and Electa Begnaud, her first husband Edward Bower, her second husband Vianny Benoit, her son-in-law R.B. Christ Jr., two grandchildren, Robyn Lynne and Christopher Bower; three sisters, Amy Ford, Josie Boudreaux, and Rita Gannard; and six brothers, Tilbon, Merlin, Alvin, Ray, Earl, and Euwell Venable.

Frances was born April 13, 1918 in Bristol, LA. She lived in Lafayette, LA for 83 years, and was a member of St. Leo the Great Catholic Church. She was a loving mother and grandmother who enjoyed cooking and baking for her family, playing games, dancing, and quilting.

Pallbearers are Kevin Baudoin, Stephen Bower, Mark Bower, Rodney Christ, Richard Christ, and Shane Christ. Honorary Pallbearers are Robert Fabacher and Tite Baudoin.

The family requests that visitation hours be observed on Monday, April 23rd from 2:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., and on Tuesday, April 24th from 8:00 a.m. until time of service. A rosary will be said in her memory at Walters Funeral Home on Monday evening at 7:00 p.m.

The family would like to extend thanks to the staff at Courtyard Manor, and the staff at Louisiana Extended Care Hospital.
