LAFAYETTE - Bobby Jack went to be with the Lord on October 25, 2012. A Memorial service will be held at Asbury United Methodist Church on Monday, October 29, 2012, at 2:00 PM with Reverend Ed Boyd and Susan Ferguson officiating. The Eulogy will be delivered by Bill Robbins.
Visitation will precede the service at Asbury United Methodist Church beginning at 12 Noon until time of service.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 59 plus years, Beverly Martin Lane; his two sons, Jack Martin Lane and companion, Melissa Guidry, and Richard Alan Lane and his wife, Sally Guillot Lane; a daughter-in-law, Pamela Provost Lane; grandchildren, Nikki Lane Couvillon and her husband, Mark, Clinton Lane and his wife, Lanie Angelle, Matthew Alan Lane and his wife, Elizabeth Barras, Jennifer Lane Talley and husband, T.J., McKenzie Guidry and Kennedy Guidry and seven great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Lane and Roberta Jackson Lane of Kentwood, Louisiana.
Jack was born in McComb, Mississippi on February 20, 1930. He graduated from Lake Charles High School, Louisiana Sate University with a BS and MS degree in Geology. At LSU he met and married Beverly Martin in 1952. Jack served two years in the United States Navy as an Aerographer at the US Weather Bureau in Washington, D.C. during the Korean conflict. Jack then went to work in New Orleans for Chevron Oil Company where he held several positions in production and exploration. One of the joys in his life was training the younger geologists. He later formed his own company, Lane Exploration. Jack was active in earlier years as a boy scout leader in both New Orleans and Lafayette, coached little league baseball, football, was PTA president, and Sunday school teacher. Jack was Chairman Emeritis for the Southern Oilmen's Tennis Tournament. In later years golf and his golf friends became his passion. Jack followed every activity his beloved children and grandchildren participated in at home or away. Jack used his many God given talents wisely. Thanks to God for his life.
The family wants to especially thank their dear family friend, Dr. Morris Hoffpauir and Drs. Zeik, Lagraze, Simpson, Blaylock and Cahill. Also, thanks to the many technicians and nurses at Fresenius West Dialysis Center. You were all so good to Mr. Bobbie for almost 6 years.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Asbury Methodist Church, St. Thomas More Catholic High School or Hospice of Acadiana.
