LAFAYETTE - A Catholic Funeral Service will be held on Monday, November 19, 2012 at 1:00 PM in La Chapelle de Martin & Castille in Lafayette for John Henry Garcia, age 87, who died on Thursday, November 15, 2012 at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center in Lafayette.

Reverend Wayne Duet, Pastor of St. Edward Catholic Church in Richard, Louisiana, will conduct the funeral services. Lectors will be Genny Kirkpatrick and Jessica David. Katherine Kirkpatrick, guitarist, will play for the service, "Amazing Grace", "Here I Am Lord", and "Freedom Reigns In This Place".

Survivors include his wife, Patsy "Pat" Munn Garcia; two daughters, Deborah Garcia Daigle and her husband, Michael and Jessica Garcia David and her husband, Robert; one son, Emile John Garcia and his wife, Kim; two step daughters, Darla Grashot and her husband, David and Genny Kirkpatrick and her husband, Michael; one stepson, Lamar Eichelberger and his wife, Kim; two grandchildren, Kelly Daigle and Erik Hauser; one sister, Marie Louise Viator and one brother, Thomas V. Garcia; step grandchildren, Sunny D. Hattan, Dodie Anderson, Rebekah Kot, Michael, Jonathon, Clint, Steven, and Jacob Kirkpatrick, Jeremiah, Robert, Summer and John Henry Eichelberger and ten great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Kelly Mae Broussard Garcia; his parents, John Dalton Garcia and the former, Josephine Roseberry; a stepson, Mike Eichelberger; a granddaughter, Sydney Garcia; two brothers, Bill Garcia and Roy Garcia; two sisters, Marie Thibodeaux and Margaret Smith.

Mr. Garcia was born on September 4, 1925 in Lafayette, Louisiana and was a resident of Church Point. He was a veteran of military service and proudly served his country as a member of the United States Marines during World War II and served at Iwo Jima. Mr. Garcia was very committed to the American Legion and his fellow veterans. Prior to his retirement, Mr. Garcia was a Woodworker by trade.

The family requests that visitation be observed in Martin & Castille's DOWNTOWN location on Sunday from 10:30 AM to 10:00 PM and on Monday, from 9:00 AM until time of service.

A Rosary will be prayed Sunday at 7:00 PM in Martin & Castille Funeral Home.
