Lucille "Lou" Ann Sonnier

SCOTT - Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, January 12, 2013 at a 1:00 PM Memorial Mass in Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Scott, for Lucille "Lou" Ann Sonnier who died on Thursday, January 10, 2013 at her residence in Scott surrounded by her family.

Inurnment will be in Sts. Peter and Paul Mausoleum.

Reverend Cedric Sonnier, Pastor of St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Eunice, LA, will be the Celebrant of the Funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Lectors will be Frederick Sonnier and Gabriel Adams. Giftbearers will be Marguerite Sonnier and Vince Adams. Maureen "Shonie" Morvant and Karen Melancon, vocalists, accompanied by Karen Broussard, organist, will sing for the services.

Survivors include her brother Robert Sonnier married to Martha Frederick Sonnier of Abbeville, LA. She is also survived by nine nieces and nephews; Marie (Noonie) Soileau(Kirk) of Hammond,La., Maureen (Shoonie) Morvant (Mark) of Thibodeux, La., Robert (Sookie) Sonnier, Jr. (Chelle) of Lafayette, La., Marguerite (Bonkie) Sonnier of Lafayette, La., Frederick (Foonie) Sonnier of Abbeville, La., Vincent Adams (Julie) of Kennesaw, Georgia, Gabriel Adams (Valerie) of Ponchatoula, La., Peter Adams (Kate) of Lacey, Washington, Theresa (Tessie) Gary (Dirk) of Kaplan, La. She is also survived by 11 great nieces and nephews: Nicholas M. Soileau, Jennifer Bradford (Ayres), Lydia Kirk (John), Delaney Francis and Alexander Robert Morvant, Sydney Noelle and Hannah Alyse Sonnier; and 2 great-great nieces Addyson Layne Soileau and Philomene Idiloe Kirk. She is also survived by dearest K- 9 companion, Maddie who she loved dearly.

She was preceded in death by her parents Hector N. Sonnier and Nola Martin Sonnier and her sister Rose Marie Sonnier Adams.

Lou was born in Lafayette, Louisiana. She was a graduate of Scott High school, Class of 1962. During high school she excelled in many school activities and projects, but mostly enjoyed her love of music, and her friends who have remained close to her through the years.

After graduation Lou attended Hotel Dieu School of Nursing in Beaumont, Texas. Her nursing career took her to many hospitals around the Houston, Texas area including: St. Joseph's Hospital, Twelve Oaks Hospital, and Memorial Hermann Hospital. After retirement, Lou, returned to her hometown of Scott, Louisiana.

She began working part-time at area hospitals including: Lafayette General Hospital, Young Eye Surgery Center, and was currently employed at Park Place Surgery Center. During her 48 years of nursing, Lou touched many patients lives and inspired many nurses and hospital staff with her love and dedication to patient care.

Outside of nursing Lou enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially her two extended families in Scott: the Hubert Sonnier Family and the Allen Mouton Family. Her Houston Extended families, Dr. Mark and Pam Blick and Charlotte Graves. Her love of travel brought her to many places with dear friends including Paul Theriot, Laura Mouton, Hope and Monica Jeffcoat, Judy Guillory, and Jude and Jan Arceneaux. She also, enjoyed gardening, attending concerts, and serving others and her community. Lou was a parishioner of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. She had a great devotion to Blessed Father Xavier Seelos, St. Theresa and Our Blessed Mother.

A Rosary will be recited at 12:00 PM in Martin & Castille Funeral Home's SCOTT location.

The family requests that visitation be observed on Saturday, January 12, 2013 from 9:00 AM until time of service at 1PM.
