RAYNE - God opened his arms to Curless Antoine Arabie, 82, on Sunday, March 31, 2013 at his residence surrounded by his family and cherished friends. A mass will be held to honor his life at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rayne, LA on Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at 2:00 p.m..
The mass will be celebrated by Rev. Whitney Miller and con-celebrated by Rev. Wayne LeBleu, close family friends.
Interment will be in the St. Joseph Cemetery #2, Rayne, LA.
Curless is survived by his best friend and beloved wife of 58 years, Amie Barker Arabie of Rayne, two daughters, Connie Arabie John of Crowley, Joan Arabie of Lake Charles, one son, David Arabie of Lafayette, three granddaughters, Ashley John Hicks and husband Matthew of Estherwood, Serina Arabie of Lake Charles, Haily Arabie of Lake Charles, two grandson, Joseph A. John II of Crowley, David A. Arabie II of Lafayette, two great grandchildren, Miller Hicks of Estherwood, Layne Hicks of Estherwood, two sisters, Dorthy Richard of Crowley, Martha Genin and husband Lawrence of New Orleans.
He was preceded in death by parents, Antoine Arabie and Zulma Trahan Arabie Meaux, two brothers, Thomas Arabie and John Lennis Arabie, one sister, Melba Longin.
Curless was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. He touched many lives through his acts of kindness. He flew his American flag with pride having serving in the U.S. Marine Corp. His community service included membership in the Woodmen of the World, American Legion, Knights of Columbus, and Veterans of Foreign War. Retired after thirty years of service with TransOcean, Inc..
A rosary and scripture service will be recited Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. at Gossen Funeral Home, Inc. in Rayne, LA
A gathering of family and friends to bid their final farewell to Curless will be held at Gossen Funeral Home, Inc. in Rayne, LA Tuesday, April 2, 2013 from 3:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Wednesday, April 3, 2013 from 10:00 a.m. until 1:30 p.m.
Carrying him to his eternal resting place in St. Joseph Cemetery #2 will be, Joseph John II, David Arabie II, Matthew Hicks, Michael Boudion, Paul Longin, Lester Conrad and Danny Ray.
The family wishes to express sincere gratitude to all who supported and prayed for him. Especially our dearest family friend, Bridget Martin. We express a heartfelt thank you to his care givers, Stephanie Breaux, Nancy Romero, and Hospice Compassus.
