Julius "Popa" Thibodeaux

Rayne - Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 pm on Saturday, April 27, 2013 at Duhon Funeral Home in Rayne for Julius "Popa" Thibodeaux, 75, who passed away on Wednesday, April 24, 2013 in Lafayette.

Rev. John Locasio, will conduct the funeral services.

Burial will take place in Leger Cemetery in Indian Bayou.

Mr. Thibodeaux, a resident of Indian Bayou, was the son of the late Cleveland Joseph Thibodeaux, Sr. and the former Mabel Monceaux. He was a graduate of Indian Bayou High School in 1956. After graduating he joined the U.S. Marine Corp Reserve having served six years. He was a farmer and worked in the oil field as a Driller. He also raised exotic birds (Doves and Pigeons) having gotten the name "The Bird Man" of Indian Bayou. He was known as many things: a great story teller, a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. His family was his life, and he was known as "Popa" to many.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, JoAnn Petry Thibodeaux; five daughters, Susan Credeur and fiancé Willy Bourque of Indian Bayou, Cheryl Broussard and husband Kim of Lafayette, Dawanna Caillouet and husband Leonard of Dover, AR, Karen Gaspard and husband Tim of Indian Bayou, Rachael Mouton of Roberts Cove; one son, Steven Thibodeaux and wife Mary of Rayne; fifteen grandchildren, Jonathon Credeur and wife Summer, Amy C. Rodrigue and husband Darrell, Lance Thibodeaux and wife, Lana, Lana Thibodeaux and fiancé Brad, Kaitlin Thibodeaux, Tristin, Brody and Jency Broussard, Ben and Katie Caillouet, , Jarad Gaspard, Jordan Gaspard and wife Holly, Haylee Sonnier, and McKinzie and Meaghan Mouton; six great grandchildren, Courtland, Braydan, Eastan, Marissa, Laken and Koye; three sisters, Irene Mayfield of Rayne, Ruby Richard of Crowley and Mabel Himel of New Orleans; five brothers, Loveless, Oran, Cleveland, Jr., Curtis all of Indian Bayou and August Thibodeaux of Judice.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Michael Lynn Thibodeaux; granddaughter, Ainsley Marie Broussard; four brothers, Clifford, Walton, Winfred and Ivan Thibodeaux; and son-in-law, Glenn Credeur.

The family requests that visiting hours will be observed at Duhon Funeral Home of Rayne on Friday, April 26, 2013 from 4:00 pm until 10:00 pm. Visitation will continue on Saturday from 10:00 am until the time of service.

Pallbearers will be Jonathon Credeur, Lance Thibodeaux, Jarad Gaspard, Jordan Gaspard, Ben Caillouet and Brody Broussard. Honorary Pallbearer will be Steven Thibodeaux.
