Cynthia "Cindy" Cannon

LAFAYETTE - Cynthia "Cindy" Cannon, 39, of Lafayette, joined the angels in Heaven on May 7, 2013. She was born in Natchez, MS on February 2, 1974.

Cynthia attended Green T. Lindon and Youngsville Middle School in Youngsville, LA and was a 1992 graduate of Acadiana High School in Lafayette. Cynthia attended the Muscular Dystrophy Lions Club summer camp for twelve years. She was the MDA poster child in 1983 and Acadiana High School Jamboree Queen in 1991. Cynthia will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Cynthia is survived by her mother, Lawana Goodwin Foreman of Lafayette; father, Burl Ray Cannon, Jr. and his wife Elizabeth of Youngsville; one sister, Sarah Cannon of Lafayette; three brothers, Matthew Cannon and Jason Cannon, both of Youngsville and Ray Cannon of Lafayette; one niece, Kailee Landry; Godchildren, Adia Hasling, Bishop Campbell and Isabella Blanco; and many loving aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of friends.

She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Burl and Hazel Cannon; maternal grandparents, Richard and Jane Fancher; step-father, Willie "Jr." Foreman; and one brother, Jacob Cannon.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 10, 2013, at 7:00 PM in La Chapelle de Martin & Castille in Lafayette. Visitation will be observed in Martin & Castille's DOWNTOWN Lafayette location on Thursday, May 9, 2013 from 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM and on Friday from 10:00 AM until the time of service. Reverend Wallace Millsaps of First Baptist Church in Jeanerette will conduct the funeral service. Lectors will be Laura Blanco and Amanda Duhon. Karen Broussard, organist and soloist, will sing "Wind Beneath My Wings", "Because He Lives", "How Great Thou Art" and "You Will Never Walk Alone" for the service.

A Graveside service will be held on Saturday, May 11, 2013 at 2:00 PM in Legion Memorial Cemetery in Newellton, Louisiana.

Pallbearers will be Shane Poche, Charles Goodwin, Harry Foreman, Ray Cannon, Brian Blanco and Bishop Campbell.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Cynthia Cannon's name to Muscular Dystrophy Association, 301 East Kaliste Saloom Rd., Lafayette, LA 70508.
