Jane Dupuis Latiolais Prejean

LAFAYETTE - Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 24, 2013 at a 10:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial in St. Genevieve Catholic Church in Lafayette for Jane Dupuis Latiolais Prejean, 80, who died on Monday, May 20, 2013 at 7:00 PM at her residence in Lafayette of Lung Cancer.

Entombment will be in Calvary Mausoleum.

Reverend Bill John Melancon, Pastor of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Erath, Louisiana will be the Celebrant of the Funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Lectors will be Brandy Mouton and Jeàn Prejean. Giftbearers will be Katie Douet and Matthew Douet. Eulogist will be Jordin Prejean. Karen Broussard, organist and soloist, will sing "Ave Maria (French)," "Amazing Grace," "A Closer Walk With Thee," and "One Bread, One Body" for the services.

Survivors include her six daughters, Doris Dronet and her husband Bradley of Lafayette, Lou Crawford of Breaux Bridge, Peggy Latiolais of Denton, Texas, Theresa Prejean of Lafayette, Mitzi Smith and her husband Kevin of Carencro, Virginia Douet and her husband Darren of Breaux Bridge; her four sons, Ricky Prejean of Lafayette, Carl Prejean and his wife Melinda of Scott, Ronald Prejean Jr. and his wife Jeàn of Lafayette, Donald Prejean and his wife Glenda of Church Point; twenty three grandchildren; and numerous great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Herbert "Tin" Latiolais; her second husband, Ronald Prejean, Sr.; her parents, William Dupuis and the former Elda Stoute Dupuis; sisters, Margie Dupuis, Mary Lou Champagne, Suzanne Dupuis; brothers, Ames Dupuis, Sidney Dupuis, and James Dupuis.

Jane was a native to Breaux Bridge, Louisiana. She worked many years and retired from Hilton's Food Service. She was an avid member of St. Genevieve Catholic Church. Jane was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend to all who knew her and will be dearly missed.

Pallbearers will be her four sons, Ricky Prejean, Carl Prejean, Ronald Prejean Jr., and Donald Prejean, as well as her grandsons, Ronnie Dronet and Chad Prejean.

Honorary Pallbearer will be Michael Crawford.

The family requests that visitation be observed in Martin & Castille's DOWNTOWN location on Thursday, May 23, 2013 from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM and on Friday from 8:00 AM until time of service.

A Rosary will be recited on Thursday 4:00 PM in Martin & Castille Funeral Home.

The family would like to thank her granddaughter, Jeanne Smith, LPN, for all her love and care she gave to her grandmother.

The family would also like to thank Dr. Joseph Brierre, Dr. Jody Rossen, Dr. Paul Landreneau, and Hospice of Acadiana.
