George Arthur Davis
LAFAYETTE - A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, February 4, 2017 at 2:00 pm at Fountain Memorial Funeral Home in Lafayette for George Arthur Davis, 83, who passed away Saturday, January 28, 2017 at his residence in Lafayette.
Visitation will be observed on Saturday, February 4, 2017 from 11:00 am until time of services.
Inurnment will follow in Fountain Memorial Cemetery in Lafayette.
George's step-son, Joel Allen, will officiate.
George was born January 10, 1934 in Fort Worth, TX. In 1956, he graduated from Texas A&M, obtaining a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering. He served as a first lieutenant in the United States Army. George worked as an engineer in the oil industry for 30 years. George was one of the founding fathers of Trinity Bible Church in Lafayette. He was a true servant of the Lord, with a heart for missions.
His hobbies included fishing, golfing, playing on the computer and was an avid reader.
George is survived by his beloved wife of 44 years, Gwendolyn Sue Amburgey Davis of Lafayette; two sons, Cliff Davis and his wife, Ruth and Jeff Davis, all of Hot Springs, AR; his step children, Auna Hallford of Lafayette, LA, Kimaron Hallford and his wife, Karen of Englewood, CO, Sam Allen and his wife, Lydia of Tulsa, OK and Joel Allen of Lafayette, LA and one step-son-in-law, Jim Trout of Loveland, CO and numerous dear grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lester Monroe and Winnie Estelle Stevens Davis; one stepson, Steven Hallford; two stepdaughters, Rebecca Lynn Root and Karen Trout and one brother, Waymon Davis.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in George's name to Trinity Bible Church Missions in Lafayette.

I was sorry to read of George's death. He and I went to North Side together, graduated and found that we were both planning to attend A&M. We decided to room together, and did for the first semester of our Fish year. I transferred to another outfit, although we both were EE majors. I lost track of him; sorry to hear of his passing. Jack Farlow class of'56.

Cliff, we are so sorry for your loss. I know it's hard and you will always miss him, and that's the way its supposed to be. Nearly every day I think of something I would like to tell my dad, he has been gone since 1985 and I still miss him. Some time when we are going to ar we will give you a call, sure would like to see you.
