Breedlove, Lillian Douglas Swayze "Duggie"
"HER LIFE WAS PERFECTLY DELICIOUS." Everyone who knew "Duggie" would be quick to say that she lived to cook - her life was spent in the kitchen surrounded by family and friends and everything she cooked in her kitchen was "perfectly delicious." Lillian Douglas Swayze Breedlove ("Duggie"), born Aug 20, 1916, was welcomed into our Lord's presence on Monday, May 11th, 2015 at age 98. A native of Yazoo City, MS, she was a graduate of Millsaps College, a former Miss Millsaps and had many other accolades but it was her family who brought her the greatest pride. Duggie is preceded in death by her loving husband, John Amos Breedlove. She is survived by her son, James Swayze Breedlove; and her two daughters, Carol "Mike" Breedlove Nowacki and Patti Breedlove Crum and husband, Ron; four grandchildren, Lora Nowacki Adcock and husband, Christopher; Kristen Nowacki Maurel and husband, Matt; John Cory Crum and wife, Sarah; and Kirby Crum Bowles and husband, Jonathan; and four great-grandchildren, Lilly, Kinsley, Judah and Josiah. Our precious mom was the epitomy of "southern hospitality" and a blessing to all who knew her. Her grace, charm and generosity knew no bounds. "She was skilled in the crafts of home and heart, quick to assist anyone in need, reaching out to help the poor and, therefore, her children rise up and call her blessed." (Prov 31.) Her life will be celebrated in a private family service over Memorial Day weekend. Our sincerest and heartfelt appreciation and thanks go out to Dr. Susan Richarme and staff; the staff at The Haven and House of Grace; and Lavonda Head and Linda Kelly, our caregivers of unending patience and compassion. Your kindness and help has been invaluable to the whole family. Memorial donations may be made to two of Duggie's favorite charities: the Baton Rouge Food Bank and St. Vincent de Paul.

Bourdier, Lloyd Louis "Sonny"
My Father, Lloyd Louis Bourdier (Sonny) a resident of Baton Rouge passed away May 14, 2015, 9:37 pm at The Carpenter House. He was 88 years of age. He was a World War II Navy veteran whose amphibious training and service took him to Coronado, CA, San Francisco, CA, and later to the Philippines. He always told the story of how the ship and crew survived a two day typhoon on route to Asia. He was an Ethyl Corp. employee for 38 years and was married to his wife, Doris (Dot) for 60 years. His passion was sports, especially LSU football and baseball and was filled with excitement when attending or watching the games on television. That was a tradition that started when his Father took him to the games as a child. Dad always adhered to old fashion values and gave his full attention when spending time with friends and family, as if time stood still. He was always willing to help someone out no matter what he had going on. I was always so proud of the way he lived his life. He didn't teach so much with words but by quiet examples. It was a privilege to be his Son. I will miss him, but the love and many memories I have will never pass. He is survived by his son, Keith Bourdier; his nephews, William P. Waymire, Paul Waymire, and Joey Maggio; and his nieces, Vickie Ortego, and Sharon Perrin. He was preceded into the afterlife by his wife, Doris Bourdier; his parents, Lloyd E. Bourdier and Helen Ohlmeyer; and his sisters, Betty Maggio and Barbara Waymire. He will be missed by many other family member and friends who all have their special memories of the good times shared. The family request that visiting hours be observed Wednesday, May 20, 2015 at Resthaven Gardens of Memory and Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway from 1:00 pm until the time of services.Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, May 20, 2015 at Resthaven Funeral Home at 2:00 pm.
